Gillis preaches 1a/1b systems. Theodore being traded to Vancouver is not an issue of money for Florida, it's an issue of Gillis wanting Theodore back in a trade. Theodore not waiving his NTC would not be an issue otherwise because Florida could just waive Theodore. Therefore, Theodore is one of Gillis' targets.

UNLESS, of course, Theodore is unwilling to waive his NTC to go to a DIFFERENT team as a part of a different deal.

Of course, it could just be that Tallon is classy and does not want to lose face by waiving Theodore or wants to honour a player who played well for the Panthers. Is Tallon a "business is business" kind of guy or does he actually care about his players?

George Richards is a legit guy when it comes to the Panthers.

He posts here/lurks here every so often.

Don't get me wrong, I just want this to be over but I just don't see this guy as a reputable source.
He's the team's beat writer! How can he not be reputable?

Because he is more informed about matters concerning the panthers than every other hockey writer in the country.

This is kinda what I was asking for. I wasn't saying the guy was wrong or a liar, I just dont know who he is and being a beat writer for the panthers means little to me on its own.
I was looking for someone who was familiar with him to give some information.

Well, just because Toronto's level of journalism is sub-par doesn't mean the same for Florida!

JUST KIDDING AROUND

Seriously, I've read his stuff over the years and he seems right on most of the time. Don't see any wild speculation or outrageous commentary out of him.

You have no idea!

If true I hope it just means Theo wants to be a started at this point in his career cause I think the leafs should be interested at the right price.

He plays Vancouver. Other then that he look average.

He's basically the only writer who gives a crap that is around the team every day and has been doing it for quite a while now. He's made some connections and the Organization seems to like him.

I'd trust any panthers info coming from him over something from the guys at TSN or ESPN any day

But if it is true maybe he just doesn't want to be a back up the leafs should try something around MacArthur for Theodore.

BTW who the hell is George Richards, what has he ever broken that we should take him seriously?

Well for what it's worth, I'd say George Richards breaks almost half the Panthers related news that the Panthers themselves don't end up breaking.

Over the past half decade, I'd imagine George Richards is first on more team related news than most beat writers for their respective teams are.

I can't see Gillis trading Luongo anywhere within the conference, especially to a team that might be in the same division after re-alignment. The western conference goalie situation is a joke for the most part (outside of LA, NAS), no need to change that.

We don't need defense anymore. Maybe something around Clowe for Luongo would work though.

Thoughts?
Not Hawks fan .. But when I think of Value here ... if you want Hossa you need to add ... Sharp you need add but not as much.... it is a close trade but Luongo contract length.... Well known your trading him .... Lu's pulling the strings a bit... Then the kicker on him witch isn't always fair .. he can get rattled in the playoffs .. Sooo thats why I believe you HAVE to add to even get them talking

Couple things,

Cant mentions Lu contract when we are comparing to hossa he is on the exact same kinda deal.. SO that is a wash.

Second the fact that hossa might not ever be the same after that hit. or he could take 2 years to recover.. Or he could be fine come november.

Same kinda uncertainty we have on how many teams are offering what..
