For anyone who is interested, Leafs filed for arbitration on Kulemin

Gotta run. links not there yet, but: Leafs in on Doan, Leafs filed for arbitration on Kulemin, Leafs sign Holzer (one-way deal). Discuss.

How is it a shady tweet? It's a direct quote from his agent.

Semin is such an intriguing player. I'd have a hard time getting upset with Shero if he offered anything up to and including the same deal Neal got.

People talk about Parise being the perfect winger for Corsby, and I have thought along those lines in the past, but Parise is a poor man's Crosby. They both play the same way and try to do the same things. Semin taking shots off saucer passes from Crosby though... They would put up sick goal totals together.

2013 Free Agency: Winger for Crosby?

2013 UFA ForwardsIginla, Jarome » R CGY 35 $7,000,000 2013 (UFA)
Elias, Patrik » C NJD 36 $6,000,000 2013 (UFA)
Perry, Corey » R ANA 27 $5,325,000 2013 (UFA)
Getzlaf, Ryan » C ANA 27 $5,325,000 2013 (UFA)
Ribeiro, Mike » C WAS 32 $5,000,000 2013 (UFA)
Alfredsson, Daniel » R OTT 39 $4,875,000 2013 (UFA)
Connolly, Tim » C TOR 31 $4,750,000 2013 (UFA)
McDonald, Andy » C STL 34 $4,700,000 2013 (UFA)
et al

Those are all the FA Forwards [minus the 250 players Chancellor Vitale wisely deleted] in next years Free Agency. Definitely a stronger corps than this year with Parise being the only main forward of interest.

Imagining that none of these guys get signed, who would you sign and to what contract?

Just because it references this rumor that seems to have come out of the blue.

Semin has probably one of the best one timers in the entire league. It's a bullet, and he is surgical with it. Him on the left side of our powerplay would give us an almost automatic play with the guys passing it to him from the left. He is also creative enough where he can run the powerplay from that side too, opening up the left side.

I think it'd be awesome to watch.

Reading about Gandler, I'm not sure he'd comment about the sky being blue either.

Also, I think he is changing his attitude. He was definitely a changed player in the playoffs and I think Crosby may be able to change him, although his words for Crosby will never be forgotten.

Yeah, for that reason alone I'm willing to look past a lot of warning signs. IIRC, Kovy had a bad rep prior to joining the Penguins; he was no Pavel Datsyuk, but he was still a great asset to the team.

It's an extremely high risk high reward trade off. I'm very interested in seeing how this plays out.

I would say it's safe to say that over 50% of the decent FA will be resigned. It's the direction of the league.

So what you're really trying to say is.... the Pens are going to sign Iginla, Perry, Ryder, and Lupul, right?

People are getting themselves all worked up over Doan. It's going to be Parise 2.0 only the writing on the wall is much more obvious.

It would be ironic to sign Doan and Semin vs. Parise and Suter. Instead of two all-around good guys and great players, we'd get two big talents who are the opposite end of the personality spectrum and both annoying potentially. The preacher and the little spoiled brat who doesn't want to do what's required of him / won't do what's required without being told constantly. Maybe Doan would help him find Jesus and make him a more responsible human.

Doan is a preacher and potentially annoying? Thought I read a post a couple pages ago where someone said he was the guy we'd all want our daughter to marry...

Did I say that? No. What I asked was that which of the top FAs would you sign and why?

He had it down to players currently signed for $500K... At least I deprived him of his own thread.

No it's mostly exaggeration except for the parts about Semin not being able to put in 82 games of work without someone being on his case (proven via three consecutive short contracts and comments from respectable media about the guy not being liked in the room - slacking off is a great way to make that happen).

And Doan COULD be annoying if he's preachy. The guy is supposedly very devout and he's been a vocal guy (as Captain) his whole career so... I dunno. He's not coming here so it doesn't matter, but could he just turn that off? Not sure.

I've heard nothing about Doan being a locker room problem and I'd like to think AS would work hard consistently with Sid or Geno breathing down his neck. Then again, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

The last contract he signed, he was actually offered several years by the Caps and turned it down.

And going off on Doan cause he may be preachy? Really?

Umm wouldn't it have been announced by now if he had signed with us or anyone for that matter by now?
