Stauffer hinted that things had changed but he did say he was not sure.

If Mike Comrie can come back then I'd say just about anything is possible.

True, the other thing is the Oilers would be able to shed one contract free and clear as part of this.

So it would be Hanzal in Horcoff out, take about trading up.

I guess it depends what you want out of your 2nd line center. He would probably be a 40 point guy given the wingers. I probably could live with that given what else he brings.

I'm pretty sure he might of signed the year of his potential Free Agency, but just didn't get there.

Sounds like something I'd say if I was born and raised in EDM and just signed in CGY. Sounds like a good way to get the fans on your side.

Those numbers seem overly optimistic to me. He has only hit 15 goals once and the only two times he hit 25 assists were the same years he only scored 8 goals. I don't think he is capable of hitting 15 goals and 25 assists in the same year. He only averages 10.8 goals and 21 assists per season.

He is a consistent 30-35 point player. Not a 40-50 point second line centre.

also something you say when a team is about to crash and start rebuilding. not so much about a team that is on the up and up.....(although we are starting from rock bottom so it can only go up).

the oilers are my favorite team ever and i wouldnt have signed with them when blowmeester signed in calgary/

If there is a dispersal draft who would we take if CBJ took OEL first?

Hanzal or Yandle?

Both would be excellent additions, Hanzal would make an excellent #2 center behind RNH and can help shut down the big centers in the west but Yandle would be be our #1 defenseman. I know we need defense but I think I would take Hanzal, He would provide size and defensive awarness in the top 6. We could then try to ship off Gagner +(Paajarvi?) for a defenseman.

Hartikainen/?-RNH-Eberle
Hall-Hanzal-Yakupov
Smyth-Horcoff-Hemsky
Eager-Belanger-Jones
Petrell-Hordi

A top pairing puck moving defenseman or a fringe #2C.. I like Hanzal, but that doesn't seem like a hard choice at all.

His son was playing in the Brick tournament so this does not surprise me.

Pierre Mcguire was also there

I thought it was because he just got DUI during the off season and he just mentioned coming to Edmonton would make him rather uncomfortable.

That is possible. I do remember him not wanting to play in Edmonton but I really do not remember the circumstances.

He wanted to come back home without having the pressure of playing at home. So he chose the next best thing.

Little did he know that he would fit right in here.

Seriously that was two years before he left Florida, I can't imagine it played much of a role.

I agree, but if you can throw Gormley into that Mix? Getting another Justin Schultz-esq player for this group, look out.

I would take a proven top pairing defenceman like Yandle over another Justin Schultz every day of the week. We have enough potential on defence already. Time to get some proven talent.

Shea Weber-Top 2 D in the league. Absolute beast. I'd be jumping around if we got him.

Keith Yandle-Top 10-15 D in the league. I'd also be jumping around if we got him.

Jay Bouwmeester-No. No. Expensive. Would fail under the pressure of being in his home city. -21 last season. Ever since he signed in Calgary, he's been soft. Has a combined 12 goals in his last 3 years. I would be angry if we landed Jay. Thankfully, it isn't going to happen because Calgary isn't trading him to us.

Weber or Yandle would likely improve our team a couple of spots. My guess is Edmonton won't do anything though. It's really quiet right now.

Those are pretty decent linemates. I guess it is fair to question Hanzal's upside.

And things rarely remain the same.

Players mature...situations change.

I wouldn't hold much stock in something that was (apparently) said 10 years ago.

Completely agree. Who would have thought Comrie would ever play again for the Oilers?

Things change, siutations change, people change.

I think I remember a few of his goals against EDM as well.
