Philly doesn't want our excess trash for their prospects.

Just curious, what would you guys ask for from the Penguins in return for Rene Bourque?

How about Bourque + 2nd (2013 Nashville)

for Harrington + salary dump (optional).

A little less than what Stewart would bring.

Columbus doesn't do this and Montreal can't.

Wow. A decent proposal for once! I'd be hesitant. I'm not a big Beau fan but if he gets his **** together, he can be dangerous. I wouldn't do it... yet.

Never! I'm not about to support the making of a McDonagh deal #2, just to get rid of Kaberle.

Why does Philly, though?

When a deal is proposed it has to make sense for both teams.

Gomez, Weber, and Palushaj for Streit.

With Markov and Streit the PP could be dynamite (again). Subban would add a real punch to the 2nd unit. Gomez's salary could get the Isles to the floor, and give a young team some veteran leadership.

Kaberle can help them on the 2nd pairing (seriously think about their lineup with these injuries) and getting Beaulieu is pretty damn good for just Simmer. He's a little overrated tbh.

You can't package up our garbage and expect somebody to give you anything of value for it. Maybe we could add Blunden, St. Denis and Geoffrion and they will give us Tavares

I don't see why either team would make this trade.

He only netted Spacek last season. If he doesn't improve, he won't have any value. This is compounded by the fact that he has always been terrible in the playoffs. I live outside of Toronto and believe me, he was one of the whipping boys every season when they got eliminated. The only teams looking to pick up veteran D-men at the end of the season are contenders and he has a reputation that was confirmed in Boston. They simply won't pay anything for his services.

I laugh at people who use Zidlicky as an example. Zidlicky, while not being a bruiser, is considerably more physical than Kaberle and had more value at the deadline last season.

I expect the Habs would be willing to deal him for very little in return. A 2nd round pick would be beautiful. But, from a Penguins POV, you guys might be better off signing Kostitsyn. If the Habs were able to trade Bourque and sign Kostitsyn, I'd be very happy.

Did Wang re-hire Milbury and forget to announce it?

Snow expects the cap floor to drop. He won't be taking on a salary dump like Gomez to reach the floor and sure as heck would not trade Streit, for Montreal's spare parts.

Isles have 4 pmd knocking on the door, in De Haan, Donovan, Ness and katic. Zero interest in Weber.

No thanks to Palushaj. Isles have Strome, Nino, Brock Nelson, Kabanov, Cizikas, Ullstrom, Sundstrom coming to camp, competing for a few limited roster spots.

Simmonds scored 28 goals. Since when does that mean he's just worth Beaulieu, a nice, but a prospect that's about 1-2 years away from even being ready for the NHL ?

Grossmann, Coburn, Timonen, and Schenn are all better than Kaberle. He's a 3rd pairing d with terrible defensive attributes. Bourdon is probably more useful than him.

At the deadline I'm sure Kaberle will have surprising value. Probably land us a 2nd. As long as he's useful.
