Ryan is who I would want if we were to trade Plekanec, not Subban.

Btw, saw that Winchester got released today. He's definetely somebody I would give a 2-way contract too, way better option than Blunden if Moen, White or Prust go down with injuries.

He's a solid player, but no way in hell would I do that deal. He's a good complimentary player in Anahaeim but he benefits from 2 all-star linemates much like Neal in Pittsburgh.

Anaheim would do that in a heartbeat.

Value wise they would win big time. I'm sure they can flip Fowler or another young d-man for a scorer.

Guys like Ryan are esaier to find than guys like Subban.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Multiple teams considering options on both. LA, STL, TOR, FLA among those kicking tires on Redden, ANA and CAR among those considering Gomez

The problem with picking up these kinds of players is that we would also have to expose him to waivers in order to send him down. We would either have to sign him with the intent of keeping him or not bother.

I can't imagine trading Subban and negociation are part of the game. This is a very important contract for PK. Would I prefer he'd be signed by now? Sure I would, but to trade him?Hell no.
Players I would trade before entertaining a PK trade:
The entire team minus Gally, Patch, Price, Gorges and Plekanec.

My thought is if Subban is looking for top star money which means losing another core player trade him to Columbus for their three 1st round picks for 2013 and carry on.The Habs would then be in a position to draft some of the Quebec prospects in this years draft.Drouin,Gauthier,Mantha,Erne,Carrier and the list goes on,bye bye Subban. The Habs have defence prospects coming along soon enough to afford this season and next to complete their rebuild.

So what?? We lose him, we lose him, that's all. He could still be a very valuable player down the road for our bottom 6. He's worth a try.

Maybe leave Carolina out of the main deal:

Montreal gets:
Benn
Larsen
Dallas 1st

Dallas gets:
P K Subban
Pleks
Mtl 2nd

and then:

Carolina gets:
Cole

Montreal gets:
Rask
Carolina 2nd

Thought about something like that, but we would really need someone to replace Subban, and I'm a big Faulk fan.

Maybe, but the way I saw it was; Benn+3rd=Subban, Oleksiak=Rask, Dal 1st=2nds. All seem eqaulish, except maybe the last part.

Neither are going to replace Subban, rather they'll add a needed RD to our squad.

We'll need to acquire a top pairing d-man through trade, UFA or the draft over the next year or two. There will probably be a cap squeeze on a few teams who will have to make some tough decisions.

To Montreal
60 point centerman under the age of 30 that costs the team under $1M

To the other team
David "Too small to be a top six center" Desharnais

David Desharnais will no longer be an $850,000 man once summer 2013 comes around, so your point is moot.

Seeing as how Subban was offered 2 years @ 2.75 million per, I see Desharnais being offered 2 years @ 1.75 million per.

according to Pierre Lebrun on twitter, Niederreiter is seeking a trade...

How about Eller+Weber+2nd round pick for him?

I wouldn't offer that much. He looked completely lost in the NHL last year, it raised huge read flags about his hockey sense.

Yeah he asked for a trade, the offers aren't going to be stellar.

How about Holland + Weber + 2nd round pick?

Lars Eller

Nino Niederreiter

No need to get fancy in the the trade just a straight up swap for guys who could possibly help the other team at positions of need.

Nino would be a great compliment as a future #2 LW power forward behind Pacioretty and he is only 20 years old. A change of scenery could do him some good.
I love Eller but it looks like MB and MT may have other plans for him since they weren't the ones who traded for him in the first place and don't have to save face to make him work here.

Galchenyuk can handle 3rd line centre duties this year.

People are too quick to jump to conclusions with Eller. Seems obvious that MB and MT think he can give more, that's why they are "cracking the whip" so to speak.

I am not jumping to conclusions, the writing is on the wall. They like Gally as a center, they likely won't trade DD because he is part of our best line from last year, cheap and French, which would cause A backlash. So it's either Pleks or Eller that will be moved to make room for Gally. If you can get someone like Niederreiter for Eller, you free up room for Gally and get another power forward winger, something this team is lacking.

If not Eller then it will eventually be Plekanec...but I have seen no inkling that management wants to move him.

One of our centers will be traded, just a matter of when.
