I like Koivu, but i don't like the idea of having him back in team, we shouldn't be Detroit getting old guys back, we need to look forward and develop... sorry

Weber for Ellerby or Paajarvi might be an option?
Weber for Ellerby seems to make sense. He could be a good #7 defenseman to rotate into the lineup and would add some size to the left side of our defense. With Pateryn, Ellis, Dietz, Thrower and Nygren we have quite a few RH defensemen coming through the system.

Of course if we acquired Ellerby as our #7 defenseman it wouldn't really leave a spot for Kaberle

I wonder if that's what Florida wants though... with Campbell and Kulikov, can they carry a Weber?

Koivu is 38 and will be turning 39 next month, he might be a 2nd liner in Anaheim but he would be a 3rd line on most teams. You can only get so much for an aging rental.

I think Koivu would be good for the younger kids coming into the league, he's definitely a good rolemodel and also I'm guessing next season will be his last season so I don't see the harm in acquiring a retiring player if he's still good for points and leadership responsibilities.

Eller, Gallagher, Kaberle, 1st in 2014 for....

Vinny!

It's a joke, you don't have to be pissed

I wouldn't even trade Kaberle for Vinnie, his contract is close to Gomez/Redden level.

Lecavalier's back. What's the asking price now?

Basically I'm wondering what it would take to get him in tampa and whether or not it would be worth it....he is 32 afterall but this could make us instant contenders.

i'd ask tampa for a pick to take vinny's contract; i'd certainly not give things away for him.

what do you guys think the chances of TB buying him out are? and i just don;t see a scenario where TB doesn't get rid of him. it has to be him

purcells cap hit jumps up to 4.5 from 2.3 next year...their cap hit right now is 63.7

every bottom six forward is getting paid a million or less and they all have expiring contracts this year and next year.

conacher is getting 900,000 now and he's gonna need a significant raise.

What's realistic? I would take this contract...I would take vinny lecavalier for the right price.

desharnais, kristo, pick?

We finally have good center depth with Plek, Galchenyuk, DD, and Eller. Why would we trade for a 32 with injury troubles who has like 8 years left with a huge cap hit? This would completely destroy what we are trying to build.

Either they have to keep like half his cap hit or else its Vinny + 2 1sts for Kaberle.

Ya I agree, but if they were willing to trade lecavalier for cheap I'd be interested

I wouldn't trade for lecavalier due to his contract.

I would on the other hand pick him up in the unlikely event of Tampa buying him out for a reasonable contract. He can still be the number 1 centre on this team until Chuckie is groomed to take the position from him.

I'm happy for Vinny but I still don't want him here and didn't he say he didn't want to play here anyways? Pass

Have you been watching hockey this year ?

He's back to being dominant in all 3 zones and he's much better then any forward we have here. But you wouldn't give anything for him because he gets paid a lot? That's what great players do, they make plays and they get paid handsomely for it. You can't have a team full of Drsharnais's.

1) its been 8 games. Do you think Markov and Diaz are PPG D-man? He hasn't proven he's back yet.

2) Stamko's line has gotten all the tough match-ups, much like Pleks last year. Let's not jump to conclusions. Only Conacher has a lower Corsi Rel QoC on the team.

3) The price to get him would not be cheap.

4) oh lawdy that contract. We have to try to sign the following players in the next 3 years - DD, Galchenyuk, Markov, PK, Emelin and Diaz. Do you know how hard that will be with Lecavalier's contract around our necks. That's ignoring the diminishing returns we'd get on his contract. He's signed until he's 40. By the end of his contract he'll be in a situation like Gomez.

5) We finally have good center depth. Eller had a 3 point game and then got moved to the 4th line! He and Galy give us size and we have 4 centers with skill. Why do we need Lecavalier?

6) THAT CONTRACT!

What does that have to do with anything, he still has a horrible contract and that's the reason why someone would ask for a pick in exchange

If we were able to move Gomez you don't think we would have had to give up a pick with him to attract the other team? Sure Vinny is playing well but he still has many years left on the deal and you can't really guarantee he will keep this pace

That is where the new CBA is fun.

If Tampa wants to buy-out Vinny, it's gonna be 2/3 of salary
That's a huge paycheck

Vinny at $5.7M....are you more interested?

What would you for:
Vinny Lecavalier + $2M of his cap hit/Salary

It's a pipe dream Habs fans, don't bother with Levallier. I don't understand the obsession with him. He's never coming here, move on and enjoy Galchenyuk.

I have a dream it's called "Field of Ice" where all of my favorite Habs come to play and they are all in their prime years.Beliveau, Richard's,Mahovlich's,Cournoyer,Lafleur,Robinson,H arvey, Savard,Lapointe,Plante,Moore,Dryden and many more Morenz,Geoffrion,Joliat you get the idea I guess?Let's look for trades that will make the team better for the next decade or more,Drouin & Jones might be a great start.I forgot Big John Ferguson he gets to play with Beliveau and Cournoyer.
