To Calgary:
Craig Smith or Colin Wilson or Mike Fisher
So let's start with Nashville's point of view. With the loss of Ryan Suter Nashville's defense take a huge blow. Now with the preds left with Weber, Gill, Josi, Blum, Klein, and Ellis(who i still think has star potential) they really don't have a top pair dman to pair with Suter. I truly think that Bouwmeester can be that dman.
With the signing of Paul Gaustad that leaves Nashville with 6 solid centers (Legwand, Wilson, Smith, Fisher, Gaustad, and Steckel) so they can obviously afford to let one move. Also they have the most cap space right now out of any team in the nhl, and can certainly afford Jaybo's contract, although they need to sign weber, wilson, sergei kositsyn, and blum. I really think that Bouwmeester and Weber would make a great first pair. Their only other options are Yandle (who may be to expensive and right handed like weber)
Now for the Flames. Everyone including Feaster knows that we need a top six center. The only way that happens is by trading Bouwmester. Nashville is a perfect trading partner because they have too many centers, and too little defense. Now with the loss of Bouwmeester's 6.68 mil contract, Calgary can add some much needed depth to the defense and bottom six. It would be a significant addition to Calgary's measly 3 mil of cap space.
With this money the flames can possibly sign some of these players:
-Solid defensive defensemen to add some depth that was lost in the Bouwmeester trade: (Carlo Coliacovo, Milan Jurcina, Steve Eminger, Matt Gilroy)
-Some bottom six grit and strength for the offense: (Daniel Winnik, Domonic Moore, Matt Kassian, Brad Winchester)
-Risky signings which could really pay off or could just end up being terrible signings: (Peter Mueller, Cam Barker, Wojtek Wolski, Erik Christensen)
-Another possible top six forward signing: (Alex Semin, Kyle Wellwood, Andrei Kositsyn)
A possible backup change behind kipper: (Dan Ellis, Curtis Sanford, Antero Nittymaki)
I doubt we trade Smith or Colin Wilson unless it's for a better forward. We don't have much up front I don't want to trade what we do have for a Suter replacement.
I would love having J-Bow for the top pairing though. Contract doesn't even matter for us that much anyway.
I'm going to put my dislike for JBo aside and try to look at this objectively..
A couple of things first though, Colin Wilson is basically a winger at this point. He hasn't fared too well at center, and hasn't played the position since his rookie year.
Craig Smith is Nashville's only "bluechip" forward prospect. He's in the realm of untouchable unless we're talking about a major forward upgrade.
Steckel is with the Maple Leafs.
So it's really between Fisher and Legwand. And let's be realistic, does anyone see Nashville trading Mr. Underwood, or Mr. Predator? Both have NTCs as well.
So JBo to Nashville is gonna have to involve something else, probably a dman prospect since that is their area of strength. Blum is probably the most likely to be moved. Wilson too, but I know I'd be pretty disappointed if we used our biggest trade chip for a dman. Nashville needs him to either be their offensive star or be traded for one.
Personally, I only think Nashville goes after JBo if they're getting a great deal. Ideally, they want to replace Suter internally with Josi being the favorite. But they still need a top 4 vet to fall back on in case Josi falters.
Preds can replace Suter with Josi easier than they could replace Smith/Wilson/Fisher. Preds have a ton of great D-prospects to replace Suter with. We have very little offensive prospects - so Smith/Wilson is a no go.
As much as I would like Bouwmeester on the Preds playing that #2 Dman, I wouldn't give up any of those forwards for him.
I would give Blum plus a pick for Jbo, anything more than that then I'm just content with playing Josi there. I have no doubt that Josi would rise to the occasion, he is a quality young talent.
As I am a Flames fan - this would be a great steal for Feaster for the long term; short term Flames would be in trouble as I have no idea who would eat Bouwmeesters minutes on D... Anton?!??! Smith??!?! Lots of trouble there

gonna take a top 6 forward+for jbo.
and his value just sky rocketed as soon as suter signed.
doesn't matter though, nashville not even mentioned in any articles i've read regarding jbo. most recent being from (omg i know how unreliable they are as a source) tfp.com
and i mean, why would he waive his ntc to goto nashville to play hockey lol.
"It's believed the Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers have all inquired about his availability.
The Flames are looking for a top-six scorer, despite signing free agent right wing Jiri Hudler to a four-year contract, to be included in a package, should they decide to deal Bouwmeester. "
