JayBo to NYI

on Jay Bouwmeester ...

Hearing the Islanders are now leading the pack for Jay Bo. However Boston could get interesting if the Flames were to take Tim Thomas' contract.
I know it's hockey voldemort giving the rumor, but it's worth mentioning.

Let's not get caught up in "Isles won't pay" nonsense... if the Islanders are trying to land JayBo, let's assume they're willing to pay his contract. On the other hand, JayBo does have value, however his cap number does lower it. He's not a cap dump by any means, but Flames fans shouldn't pretend like his salary isn't hurting his trade value.

Bouwmeester

for

Grabner
Brock Nelson

and your an Islanders fan? Horrible trade for the Isles. The Isles need a top 4 defensive defenseman, not a soft defenseman. Giving up on Grabner after 1 bad year isnt smart, I wouldn't trade Brock Nelson either.

No real interest whatsoever from Flames fans. Grabner isn't somebody we could use.

I think this trade makes the Islanders into serious playoff contenders.

Streit - Hamonic
Lubo - Jaybo
Macdonald - Carkner

With Donovan and DeHaan getting top line minutes in Bridgeport, ready to be called up in case of injury.

Calgary seems like it needs offense, so I gave them a young winger with speed, and a young center that Islanders management are very high on. Both are much better than Blake Comeau, I can promise you that much

Yes it is, we have DeHaan and Donovan as offensive defenseman. They dont need to trade Brock Nelson, who has a lot of upside for a very soft defenseman

I know Bouwmeester is a great skater, very soft, and turns the puck over. For a guy who is making 6.68 million a year, you would think he would be putting up good numbers? He was a -21 with 29 points, not impressed.

Wow I think the Bouwmeester bashing has reached an all time high, not even a top 4 now. Take your blinders off.

+/- is a great way to judge the defensive prowess of a certain player.

While he had the worst +/- on the team(or at least tied with Jackman), he played 25 minutes + and the entire team was full of negatives. It's one thing if a guys +/- sticks out like a sore thumb but it basically seemed up to par with he rest of the team given the amount of time he plays

But he is a give away king to, even though players such as Chara, Yandle, Phaneuf, Karlsson all turned the puck over more then him last year. They must not be considered top 4 D man either.

I find it funny how you have such a strong opinion of him when it is pretty clear you probably didn't see him play a single game last season.

Don't forget, Mr. Kuba must be the UFA signing of the offseason with his amazing +/-

In that comparison, nobody comes close.
