Any interest in McDonald?

Hey, Blues fan here, and I was wondering if PHX would be somewhat interested in Andy McDonald? STL loves him and so do I, but the Blues need a partner for Pietrangelo, and no, I'm not asking for Yandle because I know McDonald by himself is not worth Yandle. So, just a friendly question I'd like to ask and bring some attention to.

Meh. I know a lot of us were last year, but now he is a year older on top of already being old. Personally, no thanks.

He's got one year left, would be a big help in getting us to the cap floor and he can still produce. I'd be interested for the right price for sure.

I don't think we have a LHD to offer you.

Yandle
OEL
Klesla
Schlemko
Summers
Gormley

Also not sure if we'd really wanna trade any of those guys for what is more or less a stop gap.

I love Andy Mac. Not willing to give up valuable assets to get a year of him.

Was about to type the same. If Maloney is going to pay $4.2M in salary I doubt MacDonald who, at 34, played just 83 games over the last 2 years, would be the recipient.

A few years ago I would have been very interested but now I would expect him to workout like Langkow did. Age has got the better of them.

This is the general consensus.

Just throwing this out here

Do you guys see Schlemko as a top 4 dman? He is a player I have always been impressed with but with Yandle, OEL and Gormley on the left side it seems like he could be the odd man out.

Armstrong has stated numerous times that he is looking for another top 4 dman but would only be willing to trade a pick(s) for him. So could Schlemko be had for pick(s)?

Though I'd prefer trading him for a forward prospect, wouldn't mind getting picks out of him too if that's all that will be offered.

He may need to be part of a trade for a roster player depending on what happens in the next week or so.

If we go the picks route would a 2013 2nd be enough for Schlemko?

Seems like an overpayment for a third pairing defenseman with top four upside. A 3rd or a 4th would probably get it done, assuming Schlemko is surpassed by Gormley or someone else this year anyway.

That's the problem with Schlemko, Summers, Stone, Rundblad, and Gormley. Whichever of thw bunch we decide to trade, we will not get proper value for. None have been showcased enough to be worth what they should be worth.

I almost say keep the one way contracts up at first to earth the season. Show off Schlemko and Summers for a month or two and then deal them once the league has seen how solid these super cheap young defenseman are. Marc Methot isn't really a more effective player but he's way older and way more expensive.

That Schlemko/Klesla pairing was great to start last season. Maybe give that pairing another shot for a little while and then trade Schlemko?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Coyotes started out carrying 8 d'men at the beginning of the season. Like Maloney says, no need to rush trades.

Hopefully the group isn't as fragile as last season. Needed the 8 dmen more often than not.

The only reason I think we would trade Schlemko for less then a second round pick is because we are so deep at defense. He is definately good enough to fetch a second round pick otherwise. I think most teams would love to have him. Coyote fans are just spoiled. That's a good thing.

Carrying extra players will be one of the avenues we have to reach the cap floor.
