Filip Forsberg - 2012 11th Overall

Figured we need one of these + I have a question for anyone who knows:

Will Forsberg be playing in the SEL next year? Any sort of news anyone has seen on this?

His contract extends through next season and he's said he doesn't think he's ready for NA yet. I expect them to pitch it to him if he looks good in development camp, but don't expect to see him until 2013-2014.

Well isn't there a way for the Caps to buyout his contract with the Swedish leagues?

Either way, that wasn't my question. My question was will he play in the HA league or SEL league next year. Which is depends on his team being promoted.

I just figured out my own question, he'll be in the HA league another year. I don't know when the quotes are from, but I was reading he hoped they were promoted and they were in article in June, but the tournament to be promoted was in March-April, in which they placed 4th.

Ah, no idea, sorry. Doesn't fedfed know some things about the Swedish leagues?

So you guys can't imagine this guy getting 3rd line minutes in the NHL this year?

I was peeking about your boards looking for a thread about line combos to see how many of you guys see him playing in the NHL this year.

I kinda thought he'd be a starter in the NHL this year. He's a strong kid with a good overall game already.

He's said he plans to return to Sweden for the last year of his contract. Backstrom and Johansson both spent one more year in Sweden, so I don't see why they'd try to convince him to change his plans.

Jeff Skinner did alright, but I do think Forsberg should wait another year.

jeff skinner was already pretty much 18 and a half. and he was pretty much a huge exception, even after having a couple of monster OHL seasons. you can't expect Forsberg to match that.

True. Leksand did not make it to the SEL and from what I understand Filip is supposed to stay with them for another season where he will be given lots of ice time and responsability. I'm not sure if this is best for him though, think a few seasons in the SEL (one to adapt and another to produce) might have been better...

Of course. The Caps have a strong need for skilled, defensively-responsible wingers with scoring ability. Kuznetsov and Forsberg are just about the only prospects the Caps have in their system with top line potential.

It could have been Kuz, Forseberg, AND Teravainen...but GMGM knows best!

Hey lay off George, he is still trying to make up for that Eric Fehr selection

Joking aside, I will have an eye out for FF at DCamp, and he is the main reason I want to go.

+1 yes he should get more than a shot at a roster spot when he is ready.
