Otakon was ****ing amazing, but ******* did I have to walk a lot .

Damn amazing AMV, but if you want to see Steins;Gate, don't watch this video, it spoils a lot.

Had the same experience at Otakuthon in Montreal. So many lovely cosplays, but damn did my feet hurt at the end of the weekend.

On another note, I'm kinda sad Sword Art Online is only 25 episodes. So good.

The weird thing is that my feet didn't hurt. They are usually the ones that hurt. But nope, it all transferred to my legs and my god... so much pain. Maybe I should get some Dr. Scholls.

In regards to Sword Art Online, which is basically a revamp of .Hack and a number of other 'fantasy setting in a VR MMO' manga's... anyone else stop and think about how the authors envision this amazing gaming technology yet the games themselves apart form being fully immerse VR are basically the exact same grind fest MMO's we have today?

Yeah I know these are manga artists and not game designers, but I'd love to see a little more vision in this genre one of these times. Or god help us all if 10-20 years from now we have neuro-synched VR headsets but are still stuck playing WoW with it

Good timing for a bump. Finally finished Desert Punk this week..

Spoil:
The ending.. I understand why they went in that direction but this time I wish they just did the happy cliche ending. I know Desert Punk is known for only caring about himself and is a total ass but they make you like this character for the whole show and then he pretty much turns his back on Kosuna who idolized him. Also doing that after he was thought to have died and stuff. Just left a little bad taste but I can understand why they did that.

As for any of the new shows, I'll wait till more episodes are out before starting. Currently rewatching Hunter x Hunter. Love this show. Also waiting for more episodes of the 2011 version before watching that.

Both Sword Art Online and Accel World are by the same author, so if you like one, odds are you'll like the other one.

Anyways, Sword Art's latest episode felt far too short. Lousy cliffhangers *mumbles*

Recommend me an anime!

Please, keep in mind the following animes I have previously enjoyed and watched multiple times:

El Hazard
Tenchi Muyo!
Slayers
Trigun

Please, keep in mind the following animes I have previously NOT enjoyed and NOT watched multiple times:

N.G.E.
Dual
[note:I don't like mechas.]

Please recommend me something in the vein of the first group. If you aren't familiar with those, I'd rather you not recommend something to me than just hype up your favorite.

Arigato!

Those are some old series, but wow that's pretty identical to my tastes. Swap Trigun (which I did like) with Ranma 1/2, and that's basically my list of favourite classic anime's, and I tend to prefer the classics to new stuff.

First of all, maybe you're like me and don't really keep up with anime but did you catch the 4th TV season of Slayers that came out a few years back (Slayers: Revolution)? Anyways for some decent sword and fantasy type of anime's that are roughly similar you can try:

Rune Soldier Louie
Tower of Druaga
Densetsu No Yuusha No Densetsu

Another few suggestions would be:

Last Exile
Scrapped Princess
Seirei no Moribito

And one's that everyone knows but if you haven't heard about:

Love Hina
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Ranma 1/2

Okay I watch SAO now. Love it. Accel world is pretty good too, didn't know both of the series are written by the same author, which is very interesting.

For those who like the gundam show. I highly recommend Gundam Age. Pretty awesome.

Watching Record of Lodoss War. Such a classic. It was based on a Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

As for the Desert Punk ending..

Spoil:
I saw it more as a passing of the torch. She could have remained his sidekick, but instead opted to strike out on her own and become the best handyman in the desert like he was. He did what he had to do to survive, which was make a deal with the devil, something he did the whole series. The girl opted not to follow that part of the path.

Thanks for the info. I watched a couple of Ranma 1/2 movies and enjoyed them. Totally forgot about the series though, despite having a Ranma ANI-MAYHEM deck kicking around somewhere.

I did watch Slayers Revolution but had issues with Evolution. The DVD I ordered from Blockbuster's online service was scratched to hell, so I tried Handbrake'ing it and that gave me Japanese without subtitles. Never got around to finishing it, despite being my all-time favorite series.

This is a pretty amazing anime. A heads up though, when you get to the
Super 8 story arch I would skip a couple of the middle episodes. Youll see why after a while lol. The movie is good too and closes out the T.V. series.

I got a couple of recommendations though.

Elfen Lied (My favorite anime, very unique.)
Eden of the East + Movies (I think there are 3 movies.)
Cannan
Eurika Seven
Full Metal Panic (All 3, Fufumu is just a romantic comedy with no Mecha, still good though)
Kaze no Stigma
Speed Grapher
Ah My Goddess (Gets a littile too sappy at times though)
Rumbling Hearts (One of the best romance animes imo)
Shakugana No Shana
Claymore (Awesome lead female, the boy protagonist, not so much.)
Nana (A mature romance, not the over the top crap plaugueing most animes.)
Code Geass (Best Mecha ever)

I plan on giving Angel Beats another shot.

Honestly, Macross Frontier is a way better mecha, but that's just my opinion.

Rumbling Hearts (Kimi ga Nozomu Eien) is depressing as ****, but it is good.

Shana FINALLY finished up. Really good show though, even though some things were a bit questionable along the way.

I also HIGHLY recommend Ergo Proxy, but for the show, keep your mind open. I also highly recommend Steins;Gate, High School of the Dead, Star Driver, Berserk, To Love-RU series, Vandread, Soro no Otoshimono series, and a huge favorite of mine, Onegai Teacher. Seriously, Onegai Teacher I think is forgotten by most but is damn good. Along with Love Hina.

Bought this a year ago and still haven't got around to watching it yet. Currently re-watching Gundam SEED/Destiny at the moment but possibly after that I might finally give this a go.

I first watched all of Ergo Proxy when it was still premiering in Japan and it was damn good. Bought the boxset from Geneon (before they went under) at a Best Buy for 25 bucks (they had a company wide sale of all anime being 50% off when they were re-doing their selection). If you don't know, the ending theme song is done by Radiohead.

Yeah I wouldn't really call Code Geass a 'mecha' series. Mecha are so common place in Japanese media that they're almost automatically used anytime the want a slightly more futuristic to full out sci-fi advanced weaponry. Basically in the West we have our X-Wings, while in the East they have their Gundams. Hell even the Japanese TV Spiderman got his own personal mecha

Certainly there are plenty of anime/manga that are directly about the mecha's, but then there are other series like Code Geass and Full Metal Panic that have a different scope where they also happen to have mechs. Going back to the classic anime's, the first one I can think of that did this was Patlabor/Patlabor TV. This was a cop show first and foremost, of a police department that just happened to operate a mecha (and a rather primitive one compared to other series).

Couple of series came to an end this weekend including Hyouka which started during the spring. The entire last episode is just gorgeously animated and made it a real treat to watch and they didn't go out with a corny ass kiss or any stupid ********.

Also ending was Humanity Has Declined which ended up overtaking Sword Art Online as my favorite of the season, the series made me wish I understood Japanese as I'm sure there are hundreds of amusing language puns in there that just can't be translated over to english well.

Anyways, most series are coming to a close next week (some few are extending into next season.)

Most of the fall animes are starting early October, here's the full list as of today (will be updated often here http://www.moetron.com/2012/07/29/fa...nime-schedule/

Anything stand out?
