I assume he's taking the PK and defence responsibilities right?
If he ran the Devils PK this last year, it looks really good. He also has the credentials to push Boyle on the defensive side of his game and possibly some on puck sharing. Robinson is a teacher which should help Braun, Vlasic and Burns.
I wouldn't put him as far over the top as Clowe/Boyle. All out fire breathers have a short shelf life as coaches and usually leave a mess (eg Keenan). Robinson hasn't left messes.
TM isn't at all like Marleau. TM is very neutral in a very studied way. TM's mode can make for a good shelf life. I think of Marleau as a bit more positive.
I did notice "associate" as opposed to "assistant" which probably means more $ and a higher ranking in terms of the other ACs and in relation to the players.
Incase TMac screws it up .. it would be a lot better to hand the reigns of the team to an experienced coach rather than tweedle-dee and/or tweedle-dum.

I got a little bummed when I saw that too, but it's not like he was completely oblivious to their PK system. I think that's what DW is bringing him on for. The fact that he was on the bench for last seasons #1 PK and hopes to bring the fundamentals of that to our team

Robinson's had a long enough career to know what makes for a good system for the PK among other facets of the game. What will probably happen is that the other guys will create the foundation of the x's and o's and Robinson will be the refiner of it. If anything, he will be vastly useful for the blue liners especially Demers, Braun, and Vlasic.
