Yep, i'll add that his main weapon was intimidation of other players. The few times he did fight were so dominating and physical other players just declined the invitation.

Adding Robinson to the coaching staff may be the most important off season move by DW, this is HUGE.

Not to mention he would elbow or put you through the boards without blinking. He was the prototype to guys like Pronger and Blake etc.

IIRC, DW claims bad knees for never participating in alumni event.

Doesnt he have 9 rings? 6 with Habs and 3 with NJD? Damn, what an impressive move. I hated watching him against NYR when I was a kid. Ron Duguay/Don Maloney used to get drilled ALL the time! At least the DEF will be highly aggressive...

yep, if the way he played can rub off alittle on our D that would be just awesome and what we needed. He also was a really good defensman.

I think it's just 8. It actually is 9. Hockeydb only shows 8 because the 2003 Cup, he was a Special Assignment coach and not a normal assistant, I guess. lol

It definitely could've been worse but this is a short term answer so unless McLellan and the other assistants really, and I mean really, soak up what Robinson will bring, we will need something similar next year if the option isn't picked up and two years from now if it is.

What a great move, this is exactly what Vlasic and Demers needed.
Totally out of the blue, I didn't even realize it was a possibility.
Hopefully he can also guide Boyle how to play quality hockey into his early 40's.
I think it is a sign of maturity on Todd's part to understand where he was lacking.

He's probably the reason why Colin looked pretty decent the year before in NJ.
