Shouldn't even be a question, we make the playoffs as soon as we get Lou, most leaf fans are drooling over acquiring playoff tickets the minute the deal goes down.

A lot of things will have to go the Leafs way in order for them to make the playoffs with or without Luongo. I agree with Burke that size down the middle is a more pressing need then goaltending. Teams with good goalies and better centers than the Leafs, still missed the playoffs last year. Luongo does not gaurentee playoffs IMO but I do think the Leafs should trade for him if the price is right as he will help a lot.

Agreed.

For the majority, it might take a few years to digest the gallons of koolaid.

Leafs will make the playoffs with Luongo but will not get out of the first round with that choker in net.

Easily. Luongo plus Carlysle's more defensive system would drastically improve our GAA. And GF was definitely not an issue the last season.

I believe so yes. I mean, we would have made it last year with him in net.

Can you imagine the articles Cox would write if they got him and didn't make the playoffs?

He'd probably say he knew the Leafs wouldn't make the playoffs with Luongo as the #1, and that trading for him was a bad idea.

And as usual, many so-called Leafs fans would take his word as gospel because they don't know any better.

Assuming we weren't giving anything significant up? I'd put money on us making the playoffs with him in net. Clearly our weakest position.

Reimer hasn't proven a god darn thing.

Gillis probably wants Biggs and Percy/Blacker/Gunarrson/Gardiner, plus a goalie like Scrivens, and a roster player like MacArthur or Kulemin.

I don't think he will be a .920 goalie again, will probably be a .900 goalie the rest of his career.

In the long run, Scrivens will probably be the better goalie.

I'm not sure Luongo will able to take the heat in Toronto. I would not be so sure that Luongo would be an automatic pass to the playoffs.

And, what has Luongo proven? He couldn't take a stacked Canucks team to the promised land!

No guarantee we make the playoffs with him, he's a very good goalie but has become more inconsistent the last few years while on a top team.

No ,he may get us into the playoffs.

Gillis wants to fleece Leaf nation, meaning all that sacrifice for nothing. He may or may not get us into the playoffs and will choke which is why Vancouver has the problem.Once next season begins, his value plummets.Right now he(Gillis) wants Kadri and Kulemin, are you willing to pay that for a 10 year contract on a goalie who chokes and his team had to give up on?Nah,Burke is right, let Vancouver eat this one, soon Luongo will have less and less worth.
