Myer's injuries didn't hamper his output too much. 23 pts in 55 games was comparable to his 37 pts in 80 games the year before (truthfully I'm more concerned he'll get suspended often)

Duchene had 26 points in 48 games before hurting his ankle. *Am I missing something.... was he battling injuries all that time? (serious question)

he only scored 3 points in 19 games after trying to return early from injury... so before the injury he had 25 pts in 39 games... which would be on pace for a 52 point season... what do you know... that's the same amount vanek scored this year..

Yeah but if you want to play the injury game Vanek had what 20 goals and 22 assists in 41 games before he got hurt. On Pace for a 84 point season.... what do you know... that's the same amount as vanek's career high

Maybe Vanek should have rested his nagging injuries so that his PPG would have been better

lol not a double post:

Upper Body injury (Jan 31st) that clearly effected him the rest of the reason that was re-injured against Boston on March 8th

Are you referring to the broken jaw?

No that happened years ago. That was the season that Duchene outscored Vanek by 2 points!

"Injuries no doubt hampered Vanek's game. He took three huge hits this season: Toronto's Dion Phaneuf popped him Jan. 10; Montreal's Erik Cole and Max Pacioretty sandwiched him Jan. 31; and Boston's Johnny Boychuk caught Vanek with his head down March 8. Vanek missed three games because of the Montreal hit and one after the Boychuk blast."

really?

he went 7 pts in his first 9 games back... basically his scoring pace for his entire career (.78 v .81)

looks like it wasn't affecting him very much at all

I assume you know this, but he was said to have sustained shoulder and neck injuries.

If you really need a link, I'm sure I can find one.

in fact in the 28 games since the jan 31st hit... he had 20 pts....

a .71 pt per game pace... nearly 10 full points below his career average...

BUT

no where near the epic drop off duchene had after a much more serious injury then some bruises.

comparing the two is quite comical...

Who knows? Maybe you should ask him yourself? But you can't just assume he was at 100% Remember:

Vanek got hurt on Jan 10th. His stats after that were just him trying to play through an injury.... Therefore we should only count his good stats right Jame?

This trade straight up works really well for me. Duchene is a more valuable position, a younger player, and I expect will have pretty similar offensive numbers going forward. Vanek was older when he came into the league, so comparing his first three years to Duchene's first three years doesn't relate.

Any excuse to trade Vanek is good enough for Jame.
So only Vanek's bad stats count. Awkward since I find it hard to call a guy who's never scored less than 25 goals in any season in 7 years in the NHL bad statistically.

before duchene's knee injury (pre 12/29/11 injury)

200 gms / 147 pts / career .73 pts per game

before vanek got hit (pre 1/31/12 injury)

519 gms / 427 pts / .82 pts per game (

so if we give them their pt per game average for EVERY game they would've played after the point of injury and instead assume health...

39 games with 25 pts
43 games at .73 = 31 pts
= 56 total pts hypothetically

50 games with 41 pts
32 games at .82 = 26 pts
= hypothetical 67 pts

vanek is 6 years older

There's no news here. The article was written by an idiot Denver Post sports columnist - Mark Kinzla - who is Denver's version of Bucky Gleason - a hack with an agenda just looking to stir up some excitement and sell a few papers. Another arrogant, know nothing -esp. when it comes to hockey. He has no credibility nor does this crazy idea. Sorry to see everyone get excited about nothing.
