I feel Edler is worth more than Mike Green as of this moment right now. Discuss
Obviously.... When you play only half of the past two seasons and on top of that getting back into the groove of things for the half the games you do play, no players going to havemuchvalue after that
If the intention of this is to subsequently send Mike Green+ to NSH for Shea Weber, it won't work IMO. Despite being an RFA, Green will not likely re-sign with NSH for the same reasons Weber will not likely re-sign there.
The purpose is to get Vancouver an actual powerplay QB. Our powerplay was absolute crap in the playoffs and Green is a fantastic puck mover, much better than Edler.
The success he would have with the Sedin's would be extraordinary. And with the signing of Garrison, if he is as defensive as people say, they could make a very good pair.
I'm working under the assumption Green is signed longer term, not just a 1 year deal.
Man you are baffling me. What makes you think that Edler, who is developed by the Canucks, won't be resigned but someone from another organization would sign with you long term...
If it's just for the purpose of discussion, fine...
Edler is a UFA who has never achieved the personal achievements of Green and never will.
There's still a good chance Edler outperforms him from his season onwards.
As I said, Mike Green would be high-risk, high return. It all depends how much faith people have that he can make a comeback. Personally I think he will, but after some thought I don't think the difference between Edler and a prime Green is worth the risk.
I see absolutely no reason for Vancouver to even consider this. As a fan of neither team, I would pretty easily take Edler over Green. If anyone is adding it should be WSH.

Only problem is that it's tough to be a PMD when you aren't on the ice due to injury
Thanks, no. Edler's brutal playoffs aside, he's still our best dman, and I'd need to know Green can actually come back to be the offensive force he was before I'd even consider a straight-up swap. The fact we'd be getting rid of Raymond as well makes it tempting, but no go.
