The 3rd guy for France was great. 4th guy as well, but the 3rd guy stood out to me.

Happens all the time at the club level, but not sure I can ever recall one to get into an Olympic final.

4th guy was head and shoulders above the field. 46.7 split from Agnel. Here's the rub - Lochte has to step up and race him in the 200 tomorrow now - is he in the American's head?

I said before the race to the people I was with that I was concerned they may have talked themselves into a failure. It's one of the worst performances in Olympic history given their form coming in. Magnusson would be well-served to leave the arrogance and talking to the Americans.

If memory serves, he only came away from Sydney with a single Bronze though. Most of the damage was done in 04 and 08

Yeah I rewatched the race and 4th guy definitely looked better than 3rd. I think the 3rd stood out to me the first time I was watching because that's when I noticed France was really getting back in the race. Such an exciting race. Wouldn't mind seeing Lochte and Agnel have a close finish tomorrow.
