Maybe he's from the south. Generally GD isn't so bad out here, but in the south, they'd rather hear F bombs than GD... Oddly, JC isn't as frowned upon either. I learned to avoid GD the hard way when I lived in Charleston. Anyhoo, back to hackey.

Church of the Nazarene. A right of center although not extremist Christian denomination.

I don't get that at all to be honest. Why would he care about your religious affiliations (or lack there-of)?

I don't get it either, alien to me, but when its your boss you just don't mess around with it. He's got jesus statues everywhere, and as I said, he's a SUPER nice guy, and a great boss, so small sacrifices right?

For the sake of arguement, lets say the Sharks grab Doan.

Would this be the "key" component the Sharks need to be a SC contender? Or is there more that needs to be done?

if he knew you were atheist, and considered you a friend and not just an employee, he probably would try and convince you to go to his church haha.

ehh i don't think so since we are still super slow, especially when havlat takes his half-a-season vacation on the IR. doan is not fast. if we got him though we could convert murray and clowe for a speedy upgrade on the 2nd line, someone like erat or something. that would be awesome!

When he says "Sharks brass" he is referring to ownership, not management. Kevin Compton is a pretty devout Christian (I know his son), so that is probably what he is talking about. Still, I doubt it has any influence on their opinion of Doan. Then again, 1-2 years ago, Sharks' ownership effectively refused a request to allow their players to make a PSA against the bullying of gay kids, so you never know. I'll try to find the article, if you even want to read it (the explanation is quite shameful).

You could start by shipping out Marleau and get someone that has heart and desire.

Because wingers are just coming out of the woodwork!

You realize we are already short on wingers right? Especially speedy wingers. You realize even if we sign Doan, we'll still have extremely thin depth at wing, again?

Shipping Marleau out when clearly the market for wingers is thing at best would be season suicide.

The only way I would consider trading Marleau is if we got Semin for a multi year deal. Short of that he has to stay and we deal with the good and bad as they come. Just have to hope we get to the 3rd round so he can become a factor... ;P

You don't win cups with wingers, and you don't win friends with salad...

...we do need wingers though

I think you meant to say, we can start by putting Marleau as the center on Line 2.

A blogger (that blogs on the lovely Eklund site) for the Sabres, says Doan will make a decision tomorrow regarding the Yotes. Also, he states that the Red Wings (per TSN) bailed because doan is asking "$7.5 million per year for a minimum of four years".

I know its Eklund, (sort of) but if theres any truth to the amount, I sincerely hope DW passes. I would have a hard time giving Doan 1/2 that...

7.5 Million AAV is ridiculous. Especially over 4 years. And at 36.

I would do 4M over 2 years. Anything over that is crippling.

If wilson signed doan to that thornton would walk right into wilsons office and give him a good 2 handed slap across the face for being retarded. Then that would followed by marleau doing the same.

This.

I dont care what people think about the intangibles that Doan brings there is no way he deserves to be the top paid player on the Sharks.

Yah absolutely not.

The Borque talk has me worried, he's not a solution. Guy is the definition of inconsistency. For Murray or Handzus fine, but beyond that, no.

Another guy I'd still love to get if we trade with Phoenix would be Korpikosky. I've been trying to get that kid for years.
