6 mill is definitely an overpayment, but it makes our team better for sure. wed have to cap dump someone to make it work though.

This team is not better....slower, yes..but not better.
This team cannot have both Doan and Clowe on it. Speed seems to be the most important ingredient in the playoffs these days and this will not get it done. Semin yes, Doan no.
Agreed that Semin would look great with Jumbo, but come on people its probably not going to happen. We have been rumored to be interested in Doan, and if we get him we're a heck of a lot better off than we were before. Plus Doan will come cheaper most likely, and we might have room to get another third liner as well.
Semin is a much better player than Heater (and I'm a huge Heater fan) and will probably cost much less because of the 'Russian factor'.
he just got done with a 6.7 million 1 year contract, heatley is on a 7.5 million contract. it won't be much less. semin won't sign in the nhl for anything under 7 million is my guess.
especially after seeing parise sign a massive contract.
So the fact that his goals per game the last 3 years are his lowest in the last 10 years isn't correct? Clowe has 1 fewer point and double the PIMS as Doan the last three years. Would you offer Clowe $5 million a year?
It is correct. Look at the impact he would have had on our team though with his 'past it' numbers.
No, wouldn't offer Clowe that but as is rightly pointed out, he'll get paid as a UFA too. It's the way things are.

Agent for Shane Doan is doing a good job of drumming up interest for his client...it's going to take 3 or 4 yrs to sign him
I hope DW is willing to give him term, thats why we lost out on Willie Mitchell. I'd do 4.5m/4years maybe up to 5m. Make it happen Mr. Wilson!

He just came off a $6.7M contract, but he didn't play as well as he did the season before it. I think he'd get around $6.5M for maybe 4 years. Much better than giving Doan $5M over that same time.

him not playing to well, still put up 21 goals, and 54 points (77 games), all while trying to learn a new system.
he is not going to take a pay cut, hence why he is not signed. or there has not 1 rumour of him being offered a contract by someone yet.
if semin signs for more then 1 year, it will be over 7 million.
another thing have you ever heard of a prime ufa ever taking a pay cut? the agent would be villified by the nhlpa and the other agents for allowing his client to take a pay cut in the prime of his career.
