Trade 1
Ryan Whitney for Adam McQuaid.

Ryan Whitney returns home. Oilers pick up a steady, physical defenseman.

Trade 2
Ales Hemsky for Brandon Dubinsky/Nik Kulemin.

Both the Rangers and Leafs could use a dynamic forward in their top 6. Oilers need size and phyisicality in theirs.

Trade 3
Paajarvi + Potter for Cal Clutterbuck.

Paajarvi would be great Pierre Marc Bouchard insurance in the top 6, while Potter is a cheap, decent stopgap until Brodin is ready. Clutterbuck would be great in Edmonton.

Sign Carlo Colaiacovo or Scott Hannan, etc.

Hall RNH Eberle
Kulemin Gagner Yakupov
Smyth Horcoff Clutterbuck
Hartikainen Belanger Jones
Eager Hordichuk

Smid Petry
Schultz Schultz
Colaiacovo McQuaid
Sutton Peckham

Dubnyk
Khabibulin

I would do Whitney for McQuaid...

Chara-Seidenberg
Whitney-Boychuk
Ference-Hamilton

I think for the first trade boston would have to add more.
The scond trade I would do it for dubinsky.
I would love to get Clutterbuck but not for the price of Magnus.

This is how everyone should see it. At the worse MPS can be converted into a 3rd liner with an offensive upside that draws a lot of penalties just due to his speed

Wild will pass on the CLutterbuck for MPS trade. Don't see the value in MPS at this time.

Agreed, Bill. I'd probably even throw in a mid-round pick or mid-level prospect to grease the wheels if need be.

how big of a plus would be needed? McQuaid+third rounder+ decent prospect?

Whitney is awful. I'd rather have re-signed Joe Corvo.

Not bad. If Boston adds a 2nd I'd do the first. Would want Dubinsky out of the second out.

Wouldn't want to give up that much for Clutterbuck... but I understand that the Wild aren't going to give up Clutterbuck for cheap. Since we play each other so often I don't think it's a move either team would be able to agree on.

Good job op.

Won't do the Dubinsky one at all. Absolutely no interest in Hemsky in the slightest.

To be honest with you, with Whitney's ankle I don't even think I'd wanna move McQuaid for him. I think you're underrating McQuaid.

I'd want more for Whitney than just McQuaid, although I do like him.

The Leafs need size among their forwards, so I don't think they are keen on trading Kulemin. I'd want more than Kulemin for Hemsky too, and don't see the Leafs doing that.

I'd probably do Dubinsky for Hemsky

I would love to have Clutterbuck, but not at the expense of Pajaarvi. I don't think the Wild would really care to move him unless it was for way too much.

1 out of 4 ain't bad on HF, ha ha.

Is Hemsky a new hybrid player playing all of the above?

No thanks to the Hemsky for Kulemin proposal.

Hemsky's offense is superior, no doubting that. But the leafs need more size amongst their top 6 and getting Hemsky doesn't help that, also I'm of course concerned with Hemsky possibly getting injured.

The 1st trade is not good at all for Edmonton

The second trade has it's merits, but i'd rather keep Hemsky. I think he'll rebound and if he does he's the much better player. In saying that i'd love to get either player.

The third trade is tough as Paajarvi should be the better player longterm, but you gotta give to get and Clutterbuck would be an excellent addition to the third line. Tough, but a fair trade probably should be. I'd pass only because Edmonton doesn't need to rush the rebuild.
