Been wanting the Rangers to get Halpern for years. It's not quite the same at this point in his career, but it's still a very solid signing. Faceoffs were a big weakness for the Rangers a year ago. He'll be a great addition to the PK.
Alright signing. I like depth. This is a depth signing. Not gonna complain. I do think that it's a possibility that Anisimov gets dealt along with Dubinsky for Nash.
It would suck to see Artie go. I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential with him that could be unleashed with the right coach who just needs to have a little confidence and faith in him.

Very nice signing by the Rangers. A good depth guy to have on your team, can win face-offs and is a good lockeroom guy as well. At one year for 700k, it's hard not to like it.

So who out of McDonagh or Kreider is accompanying those 2 to get Nash?

None of them.

I don't see how or why any Rangers fan could be possibly upset with this signing. At only one year near league minimum, it's essentially zero risk. It certainly provides quality depth at an affordable price. Worst comes to worst, that's not a bad price to pay for a healthy scratch.
While Halpern isn't the player he used to be, he still competes hard, wins faceoffs, kills penalties, and is responsible with the puck. Even if they retain all their centers and stay healthy, he's plenty capable of shifting to wing if they feel that's the best plan.
Not to mention he's a former team captain and definitely a solid veteran presence to have around your team.
