No sorry Dubinsky > Stafford despite that 30 goal Stafford season.

Dubinsky for Sekera though NYR doesn't need more dmen but it's more fair.

would rather keep stafford at this point because his chemistry with ennis n foligno is greater than anything Dubinsky brings, but if stafford tanks ask me again at the deadline...

Eh, it's a close to this thing. Stafford played really well with Foligno and Ennis. I think that's too good to break up. I like Dubinsky a lot though.

imo Dubinsky is the kind of "placeholder" we need until Grigs and Girgs are NHL-ready. I'd still hesitate to break up Stafford and Ennis though. That chemistry didn't just happen at the end of last season..It's pretty time-tested.

So that line off the table, what would NYR want for Dubinsky?

Definitely be open to trading Stafford, but it would have to be for more than Dubinsky. Ott oustcored him last year.

A scoring winger or a young forward with upside.

So you want a top sixer for a third liner? Not realistic, unless you're willing to add.

Edit: Is Luke Adam of any interest? If so, what else would Buffalo need to add?

Dubinsky is a better player than Ott, who returned a top-6 centerman.

Players like Dubinsky are valued very highly in this league, despite the HF braintrust demeaning his value for whatever reason. A physical player that can play every forward position, PK, and pot 20 goals and 40-50 points in any given season will get a team a very good return.

So, if you're not willing to offer up a player with offensive upside, then there is no deal to make here.

I would take Dubinsky over Stafford any day of the week. He just brings so much more to the table, although Stafford probably has the higher offensive upside.

What happened to Luke Adam, I thought he was going to be rookie of the year with his hot start. It seems his AHL stats have deteriorated as well!

Adam is just terrible and has very little value. Season ticket holder here in Rochester, he is bum sauce

Is the title of this thread not "Dubinsky for Stafford"?

In any case this is somewhat of a silly proposal. We need another center but only for this season. Stafford will be useful to us for several more years.

Well this just isn't true...

He's 22 years old. At age 20 he scored 62 points in 57 games in the AHL. He got off to a hot start last season, but then fell apart for some reason... he had the right attitude in Rochester when he was sent down, but struggled there, too.

He's young. He's not a bust. He's shown he can tear up all the leagues below the NHL, and shown he can play in the NHL, as evidenced by his first 20 games last year.

A lot of young players don't put it all together for a little bit.

Was the poster that I quoted saying yes to Dubinsky for Stafford? The answer would be no. They asked what it would take to get Dubi. I answered.

Roy was also going to be a UFA in a year, was coming off a bad season, and a bad injury that he might not bounce back from, and was generally considered a problem in the lockerroom by many. Not really comparable situations. At all. And Dubinsky isn't really a 20 goal scorer...His career average is 15-16. A player with his skill set is valuable, but not as valuable as a top 6er. Again, if you want a top 6 player back, NYR is adding.

Is he not a top-6 player?

Anyway, I disagree completely. No point arguing.

Acceptable? I'd plan a parade if that trade went down.

I'd take this and run. I like what I've seen from Stafford. I doubt this would happen, though.

I'd take someone like Jason Arnott or Brendan Morrison for now and then if they fall off and Grigorenko isn't ready make a trade at the deadline.

Not really. We already traded one top 6 player for a bottom 6 guy. I'm not sure why you're eager to trade away more scoring for another defensive forward.
