BJ Crombeen

What's his value, what from the Leafs would it take to acquire him? Would love to have him on the 4th line.

The Blues would have to add at least another roster forward before they'd trade Crombeen. Hitchcock really likes him in the room, and they let Chris Porter walk (Crombeen is better defensively, Porter is better offensively). It's not that he's unmovable but he's more likely to go in a package and we realize almost daily on this board that the Blues and Leafs aren't good trading partners. If the Blues added another roster forward I'd let him go for a 2d round pick. But if that's too much you can get other players like Crombeen elsewhere. It's more valuable for the Blues to have the roster forward for depth than the pick at the moment.

If it was the trade deadline and the Blues weren't in playoff position, probably a 4th. Right now, I just don't see any reason why the Blues would want to get rid of him, since his trade value is lower than his worth to the Blues.

His realistic value is probably about a 4th, but I think the Blues would rather have him than a draft pick. It would be a good find just to find a Crombeen type player in the 4th round. There's no reason.

Who? Not many forwards who fight and can play available.

Go sign Chris Porter. He may not fight but you will love his game.

Exactly. There is a lot more Porter has to offer, especially given the opportunity to play a full season.

One more guy here wishing Chris Porter success wherever he lands. The guy paid his dues, and earned his ice time. Some other team's fans will appreciate him as an effective 4th-liner with a high motor and more scoring than you'd expect.

I agree with wanting Porter to stay and Crombeen to go! Has anyone heard anything on him like what he was looking for money and term wise I am assuming he wanted a one way deal. I would also assume the only reason he wasnt resigned was roster spots or am I way off base??

I think the Blues are pretty well set with forwards and know he deserves and NHL job somewhere. Rutherford said he's still wanting to land a one-way. I also agree about keeping Porter over Crombeen. It seems like Porter and Cole always seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I liked Chris Porter because he's fast and is a very diligent forechecker who's been well-coached. However, he's not as good as Crombeen defensively, and that's the #1 reason the Blues are keeping Crombeen instead of Porter. The #2 reason is Crombeen is already on a contract and Porter isn't. The #3 reason is Hitchcock can't seem to emphasize enough how much Crombeen adds to the locker room and the cohesiveness of the team. This is why I suggested it would take a 2d round pick. Blues fans have really turned on the guy. He was relatively invisible his first few games after coming back from a long absence last year with his shoulder injury, but after that began to really play well and it wasn't recognized by enough fans IMO. He was also solid in the playoffs. He was a very successful **** disturber against San Jose, getting under Patrick Marleau's skin for one. He's not the greatest player in the world but he's a heck of a 12th/13th forward.

Every Blues fan likes Porter enough to say they would want to keep him around. We might as well re-sign him.
