Teddy Purcell signs 3-year extension, $4.5 million cap hit

I don't know how to make a proper thread (if needed) for this.. but Purcell just signed an extension through 2015-16.

Oh yeah, that needs a thread. Got our only major contract for next season locked up! Nice job.

Edit: I can't do it though, b/c my keyboard is schizo. By the time I finished there would be ten threads. It took me five minutes to type this edit in.

If we get the Teddy Purcell of the 2nd half of last year for 3/4.5 then this is a steal.

Yeah they're buying his improvement here. 4.5 is a touch rich now but it looks like there is more in the tank.

I hope now he shows up for 82 games a season! Just imagine the numbers he would have had last season...

4.5 per year confirmed

If he plays a good, consistent game then this is really good

He's also one of the few who has great chemistry with both Stammer and Vinny.

Its nice to have a core locked up for awhile again.

Stamkos, Hedman, Vinny, Marty, Brewer, Carle, and now Purcell.

All we need to resign next year is Thompson, Brown, and Pouliot

Great numbers for both him and the organisation. Always said he could be a star since we traded for him and this term allows for him busting out from her, or allows for a huge payday if he continues to rise. Good for him, good for us.

I think with a bit of luck he could put up a ppg season... With stamkos on his line, anything is possible.

We did not really trade for him, he was a throw in prospect with a 3rd at the trade deadline for Halpern. 3rd turned in Buekeboom who with a 2nd landed Brewer the next year TD). So 6 weeks of Halpern, and the difference of a 2nd - 3rd we got Purcell and Brewer

One of Lawton's best moves.

So glad SFY got this done waaaay before it ever became a possibility he could leave. Loved watching him in the second half and last year's playoffs.

Interesting that Purcell's 4.5 kicks in the same season Ryan Malone's contract (for 4.5m/yr) becomes a limited NTC instead of a NMC.
