To Edm:
Keith Yandle

To Phx:
Sam Gagner
Magnus Paajarvi
2013 2nd Round Pick

This deal was suggested by Jason Gregor in his most recent article. http://oilersnation.com/2012/7/10/is...-man-realistic

Do you think the value is there?

Need's something more on Edmontons side. I don't trust MPS at all.
But still a nice proposal!

The Edmonton media is getting as bad as the Toronto media,as far as proposing lopsided trades that favor the local team.

As far as Michalek only returning prospects,Michalek had a limited NTC and was coming off a bad season. Those were the reasons he went back to Phoenix so cheaply.

This was beaten to death at the draft. EDM easily wins this deal because they get the best player.

On the flip side.. this was the offer to beat for Yandle at the draft so the value is not that far off.

Who reported this was the best offer, that Phoenix got for Yandle?

A credible reporter or armchair gms on message boards?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh wow.

OP, were you joking when you said, "Is the value there?"

Because it's not close at all. Like, not remotely close.

looked it up... no credible reporter as the source..
closest one is this
"This comes from a David Staples blog. Apparently the Oilers were negotiating with the Coyotes at the draft on a possible exchange of players. B.D. Gallof of CBS Sports tweeted Sunday morning: “Per #nhl source, #oilers offered Gagner & Paajarvi for Yandle of#yotes during #nhldraft … was evidently talked about by teams on draft floor at offer they’d have to beat if they wanted him.”"

These deal was offered at the deadline and GMDM said no. There were a lot of reports of it, and the names were confirmed. So no, this guy is just regurgitating old news.

So Edmonton offered Gagner & Paajarvi,Phoenix said no thanks.

That does not mean Phoenix didn't get better offers from another team or that the value is 'not that far off'.

Yes because we'd get our 2nd line center thus allowing us to move Gagner for Yandle

What about

Gagner
Horcoff (cap reasons)
2013 1st

for

Keith Yandle

Remember, that pick is likely top 5

I am an Oiler fan and I agree. When you're getting the best player(s) in a trade, you need to give up much more value.

So after adding Yakupov, Schultz, and Yandle in the offseason, Edmonton would still be a bottom 5 team?

I don't buy that. I think if this deal happens, they finish somewhere around 10th OV.

Phoenix is most likely looking for a 1 for 1 type deal IMO. Something like the EJ deal.

So Gregor basically went on to HFBoards looked at the most used Oilers players in trade proposals and made one of his own?

Would Pheonix accept if we added Klefbom? I think that would be fair for both sides.

Why doesn't EDM wait for the dispersal draft when Phoenix folds.

The last part of the rumor does mean that this was the offer to beat for other clubs.
In any case there is no denying that PHO would lose this trade.

This is what he has said and many have assumed over the past few weeks. If we are acquiring someone these are the pieces the Oilers will try use.

They don't need to rush into any deal, but they need to be prepared to make a move when a player becomes available. Unless it is a salary dump like Michalek, the Oilers will need to be prepared to part with one or both of Gagner, Paajarvi and possibly another young forward prospect.
