I am willing to bet it will be Murray. Experience means a lot for these tournaments (particularly defensemen) and he has more than anyone in the tournament.

Leipsic had a good summer tourney and can play a bit of that bruiser role, how has he looked this year?

Might rather see him on the big ice then someone like Wilson if they want to bring some toughness

I quite like that. I would probably use someone other than Shinkaruk, but otherwise it looks great.

I think it's too young. Switch Fucale for Binnington, and Shinkaruk for Leivo/Leipsic/Ritchie/Griffith. I also think HC will go with Murray-Hamilton and Reilly-Murphy as pairings (I agree with Harrington-Oullett as a shutdown pairing).

Who wears the C? Murray? Harrington? Jenner? Huberdeau?

I don't think lack of experience will impede Morgan Rielly from performing at an extremely high level.

Rielly is more talented and a difference maker. Murray is extremely reliable but doesn't offer the same upside.

Good lineup but I agree with Juxtaposer. I think a player like Shinkaruk, who's all offense, would be a bit redundant in that lineup. You need a bit more physicality and I think someone like Leivo or Ritchie would be better in that role.

Any chance Nick Cousins makes the team?

Pretty slim. Team Canada is all ready loaded with centers and smallish players.

If there wasn't a NHL lockout, he would have better chances but I think right now it's slim to none.

I like the team but I woud just switch Shinkaruk and Fucale with Leivo and Binnington/Marcoux.

Fucale
Strome-RNH-Scheifele (I want to see RNH owning that tournament)
Drouin-MacKinnon-Huberdeau (Ouch for other teams)
Rattie-Monahan-Shinkaruk (Maybe Griffith instead of Shinkaruk for experience?)

Pairings would be
Murray - Hamilton
Rielly - Murphy
for a more consistant D I think.

Fucale for 2nd goalie is great in my opinion. This guy has LOT of potential, if he plays 2 or 3 games for experience during the tournament it would be a huge benefit for the next 2 years.

Murray with the C, Huberdeau and Jenner with A.

Maybe because of his experience? The guy played with men last year at the WC, it counts a lot when you need to name a captain.

Talk about an abundance of riches on defence for Canada this year. We have a lot of depth this year.

Dougie Hamilton
Griffin Reinhart
Ryan Murphy
Morgan Rielly
Matthew Dumba
Cody Ceci
Scott Harrington
Xavier Ouellet
Derrick Pouliot
Stuart Percy
Slater Koekkoek
Michael Matheson
Matt Finn
Dalton Thrower
Ryan Pulock

Also, these just missed the cut being born in December

Joe Morrow
Nathan Beaulieu
Jamie Oleksiak

Did you forget about Ryan Murray? I think Pulock, Thrower, Matheson, Finn, Koekkoek and Pouliot are pretty much out of the running. Hamilton, Murray, Harrington, Ouellet and Rielly are almost locks. Ceci, Reinhart, Percy, Murphy and Dumba will fight it out for 2 or 3 spots.

That's funny, I thought I had Murray on the list but I guess I forgot.

I agree with your choices, but the depth is pretty great regardless...Next year should be a good year as well with most of the 18 year olds returning.

I think the hudon-danault-xx line will be the difference between a gold and silver/bronze team since they are doing such a great job shutting down opposing top lines.

Murray's worn the C for Canada multiple times. He's a returnee and a 2nd overall pick.

Danault looked really good last night. I believe he was playing center. Is it possible Jenner could play on his wing?

If they want to keep Jenner at center heres my team,

Strome - RNH - Schiefele
Drouin - MacKinnon - Huberdeau
Monahan - Jenner - Rattie
Lessio - Danault - Hudon
Ritchie/Griffith

Murray - Murphy
Rielly - Hamilton
Harrington - Ouellet
Reinhart

Subban
Fucale/Binnington

The other option I could see happening for forward lines...

Strome - RNH - Huberdeau
Rattie - Schiefele - MacKinnon
Lessio - Monahan - Ritchie/Griffith
Danault - Jenner - Hudon
Drouin
