NHL games cancelled through Dec 14 -

What does this mean for guys like Hamilton, Strome, Huberdeau and others ? Does this mean they will be going to WJC even if the NHL starts Dec 15 ?

If the NHL starts on Dec 15 im pretty sure RNH will be with the oilers, but what about the others on Team Canada?

If I remember correctly, Ouellet was paired with both Rielly and Hamilton at times in the games against the Russians and they never looked quite right. It was when they put Ouellet and Harrington together that things looked better.

Hopefully they can cultivate better chemistry across the entire D group, because nobody really looked comfortable with the exceptions of the Murray-Hamilton PP pairing and Harrington-Ouellet. No Murray complicates that even further.

On Thursday, December 20 Canada plays a Pre-Competition vs Finland.

The WJC Tournament start Dec 26 in Russia.

Im assuming that Dec 20 game is also in Europe? Can anyone confirm?

If Pre Competition is in Europe, the team will travel a few days before to get used to the time difference?

This means that they will start Camp at around Dec 15 ? Anyone confirm ?

In MY OPINION these guys are here to stay except for RNH ...

Does anyone else have other more precise dates?

St Croix RNH Rattie
Hubredeau McKinnon Drouin
Strome Shiefele McNeil
Ewanyk Jenner Wilson

Harrington Hamilton
Reinheart Reilly
Oulette Ceci
Murphy Dumba

Brossoit
Subban

I think they'll go with 8 D.
I don't think monohan will make the team, even though he's earned a spot. I just don't see that many 17 year olds making it. I think pulock is in the same boat.

The Hubredeau McKinnon Drouin line was pretty awesome once McKinnon wasn't on wing anymore in the SSS.
Ewanyk Jenner and Wilson would be one of the best hitting lines that can also skate that Canada could ice.
I think team Canada expects Brossoit to start when they played him a full game and a 1/2 in the SSS. He maybe hasn't earned a spot compared to some other goalies but I think they'll go with experience and it's his spot to lose in camp.

RNH needs to play with players that can cycle the puck. Rattie and St Croix are the best at that in the league. Rattie playing with RNH should have a lot of goals

If there is no RNH than replace by Di Guiseppe or maybe Druoin...

I live in Edmonton and I can almost guarantee that neither St. Croix or Ewanyk will sniff this team's lineup. Especially if the lockout is still going on.

Should be no clear cut starter to begin the tourney. Canada has two fantastic scoring lines, a third line almost as dynamic and a fantastic fourth line of crashers and bangers with skill. Plus, this projects to be Canada's best group of D at world juniors in a while. Looks like it will be a fun tournament to watch.

You may be right but one thing that they'll be looking for in camp is who can make things happen with limited ice time.

The reason the oil kings went to the mem cup is their puck cycle gave teams fits, and that's how you get the most out of RNH. He's not a score off the rush player. He destroys you with the cycle.

As for Ewanyk, he may get a sniff as team Canada will want players that can check and play responsible at both ends with their 6 min of EV strength ice per game

In Ottawa, would be beyond stunned seeing Monahan miss this team, without or without lockout. Type of guy that wouldn't need preferred minutes and PP time to be among the teams higher scorers.

Wouldnt be surprised to see Huberdeau and MacKinnon on the same line, had very good chemistry in the Subway Series.

Everyone keeps saying this but they really only played well one game. They were both -4 the first game...

Sure, but MacKinnon was also playing out of position that game and it was his third game in as many nights. Also Drouin joined them for the second game, which is why the line should be reunited for the WJCs IMO.

Some notes from Bob McKenzie's appearance on the Draft Centre podcast:
Brett Ritchie will probably make the team and maybe even be in the top six.
Rielly will likely fit in with Hamilton on the top pairing.
Ouellet likely goes with Harrington as the shutdown line.
Hudon and Murphy pretty much sure things.

Not sure why one or two posters keep putting St. Croix on the roster, let alone on the first line. He has almost no chance to make the team period

I think is probably accurate.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rielly and Hamilton end up separated in favor of three more even pairings though.

Reinhart-Hamilton
Harrington-Ouellet
Rielly-Dumba

They can basically just roll those, with Harrington-Ouellet being the first PK unit (not sure who would be the second) and probably Rielly-Hamilton on the first PP unit and Ouellet-Murphy on the second. unit

Strome-RNH-Scheifele would be a sick 1st line.

It's a bit of risk moving two centermen to the wings, but Strome and Scheifele are lighting up the OHL right now.

if RNH is at center that line seems very very attractive and appealing

I don't see him in league play, but the few times I have seen Ouellet he would seem like a strange choice for a shut-down pairing to me. But that said, I think Harrington makes anybody look good defensively.

I'd also add that I'm getting more impressed with Ceci. There are a lot of talented offensive D to choose from... but the way he has been playing and running the PP this year for a derelict 67's team is really entering the realm of "special". Before the season was underway, I wasn't really thinking of him. But watching him a dozen times this year, I'm beginning to think he might be worth a second look...
