Honestly I feel Lazar would be more useful with his physicality. St Croix is a perimeter offensive guy and Canada needs players with a more well rounded game on the bottom two lines, which is where St Croix would have to make it.

They already have McNeil, Danault, etc.

I have liked Lowe better, but I can see why you would say St.Croix.

Also, if the lockout ends, do the Islanders have Strome penciled in for their roster? I assumed he'd be in junior either way...

If there is no lockout I expect the Canadian team to look a lot like the 2006 team. Great defence, relatively weak but hard working forwards, and (hopefully) hot goaltending.

I'd like to think Puempel has a good shot to make the team, given how weak this team is on the wing.

Scoring plenty of goals for Steve Spott in Kitchener sure won't hurt his chances.

The Spott influence shouldn't be ignored - in the event there are "holes" I fully expect that, MacKinnon aside, OHL players will be the preference - meaning that I suspect that Monahan will have a leg up.

Huberdeau - RNH - Rattie
Scheifele - Strome - Puempel
St.Croix - Cousins - Di Giuseppe
Danault - Jenner - Sutter

Hamilton - Siemens

I don't think that really happened with Desjardins or Hay.. There were only 5 WHL players on the whole roster last year. Of course guys on the coach's team are going to get preference though, like Gallagher last year and Cizikas the year prior with Dave Cameron as coach. I'd expect Murphy to make it and get big play and Puempel to make it if he has a justifiable enough showing until the camp.

I can almost guarantee that he will as well. People penciling Ceci, Reinhart and Dumba in over him might be disappointed. Hes playing at a higher level right now because hes a year older

Not to mention theyll want to put some Q guys on the team and he'll help fill that quota

From the Q I think the following are very likely candidates:

Jonathan Huberdeau, F
Nathan MacKinnon, F
Anthony Duclair, F
Jonathan Drouin, F
Charles Hudon, F
Philip Danault, F
Xavier Ouellet, D
Maxim Lagace, G

Less-likely options:
Raphael Bussieres, F
Cedric Paquette, F
William Carrier, F
Anthony Mantha, F
Jonathan Racine, D
Ryan Culkin, D
Dillon Fournier, D
Zachary Fucale, G
Francois Brssard, G
Etienne Marcoux, G
Brandon Whitney, G

God help us if he somehow makes the team.

That's the order of likelihood of making the team IMO.

I heard Duclair is out a month, so his chances take a shot

Kind of choked that Gaunce won't even get a shot because of the talent coming down. He'd have had a pretty good chance otherwise.

If he has a solid start to the year he will get a long look as a 3rd/4th line center

Bob Mackenzie shared his guess at a roster if theres a lock out tonight on TSN, the video is online on tsn.

Huberdeau - RNH - Rattie

Hudon - Scheifele - Griffith

Monahan - Strome - Danault

Lessio - Jenner - Wilson

13th Mackinnon

Surprised he has Griffith on second line wing but dont necessarily disagree with him, might be the best goal scorer of the bunch after Rattie

Murray - Hamilton

Harrington - Ouellet

Murphy - Rielly

Sure about the first 5, and thinks Rielly will have the last spot but wasnt sure. Said its a toss up for the 7th dman

Subban starting.

I love that blue line, goaltending could be questionable however

I wonder how the power play looks with both Murphy and Nuge on the team? RNH might be the best pp player in the world, Murphy is good to but I don't see them working well on the same line together unless Murphy is just there to shoot.

Now that's a problem I'd like to have.
