If Murray could convince Winnipeg to accept that package for Bogosian my opinion of him would change from dunce to freaking genius.

IMO he would be a 1st line player for the next two seasons & would then drop a line for the following two seasons after Alfie retires. Doan is a quality character guy by all accounts (captain), he's a tough gritty 1st line player who can still produce including in the playoffs where it counts the most. He would be another great example for the young prospects in this organization. & would be very affordable for this franchise since Ottawa is $3 mil or so from the cap floor.

And if Garrioch is right & the cap goes down & some teams have to shed players Ottawa would still be in a position to add some quality players. While I doubt the cap goes down a lot maybe $5 to $10 mil it could get frozen for several seasons at say $60 mil. Ottawa would still have lots of room especially if player salaries also got a small cut. By adding Doan a quality player moves down a line improving the team as a whole. I don't see a down side to it at all because Doan is a stand up guy unlike a player like Semin who has plenty of issues.

If Murray could add Brenden Morrow than Ottawa would have two gritty, character players with proven playoff production that they could spot anywhere in the lineup to bolster production. Morrow wouldn't cost all that much & Doan would not cost any assets. It's exactly what this team needs IMO, an infusion of character, grit, guts, leadership & great examples especially for the prospects that are coming. It's a move for today & for the future of this team to see how two very good veteran NHL players prepare & dedicate themselves to their sport. Once Alfie, Doan & Morrow are ready to retire Ottawa's blue chip prospects should be NHL tested by then & ready to take their place.

doesn't make sense in adding a 33 and 36 year old as part of the re-build. and the young kids are pretty much ready now, not in 3 or 4 years. so these guys would be blocking them.

and that bogosian deal is not happening. he's pretty much untouchable, so if you want to get him you'll have to overpay. i'm thinking similar deal that the sens proposed for nash.

Im pretty sure if we asked for Bogosian the Jets would ask for Karlsson... not that its fair its just what they would want.

Can a team add cash considerations in a trade like in the NBA? I'm pretty sure you can't but....

What if NY trades Redden and like 10 mil to us for a conditional 7th or something haha. That means we would get Wade for 3 mil for two years?

I believe they could do that but we'd still be stuck with his full cap hit. I don't even think Redden is a particularly good AHLer at this point anyway.

His cap hit for 2 years wouldn't hurt us.

Not arguing for the return of Redden by any stretch, but to think him and Phillips as our 5/6 D isn't too horrible.

Wade at $6.5, no thanks, but Wade at $3.0 would get me to at least listen.

Rags would have to call up Redden and play for 10-20 games before I'd even consider taking on half his salary.

The fact he's been out of the league for 2 years and only put up 20 points in 49 games last year against weaker competition would have me ******** bricks if we gave him 3M.

I meant 3 mil in total. he has two years left so it would basically be 1.5 a year..

Sounds like a pretty awesome night if you ask me.

I suppose the Rags could accidentally have their owner drop a $1 000 000 bill at a BBQ in Berts Bar in Barbados.

I came in here expecting some Ryan speculation, at least that's some productive day dreaming. Wade Redden

Might as well campaign for Radek Bonk while you're at it.

I like Wade Redden and would love to have him back if it's on a PTO to camp.
