It also makes no sense for the Devils to do this now, because they have two goalies locked in for the next two years. We're not going to trade for Schneider just so he can sit behind Marty for two years, and it would require kicking Moose to the curb too. Not a chance.

I understand why Canucks fans have no desire to trade Schneider, he's excellent and Luongo is on his way out. That said, some of you are really overrating his value.

Challenge accepted. We can even lose two. The better one is off limits, though.

Edler for Zajac, Zajac and a 7th

We're giving up a 60+ point center, 30 goal scorer , a very good back up for an overrated goalie and scraps

If you are going to suggest ridiculous trades you are going to get ridiculous responses.

Except New Jersey wouldn't be lucky to get this trade. They've already lost Parise. They can't afford to lose Zajac at this point. He and Elias are the only two proven top six forwards they have left. And before everyone jumps me, I'm not forgetting Henrique. He had a great year, but I want to see him do it again. Trading away arguably their best offensive player would hurt them more than Schneider would help them. Schneider is a great goalie and I think he's going to be great for a long time, but pure value wise the trade isn't bad. Taking into account the needs of both teams is what makes it bad.

lol. Zajac has never had 30 goals in a season to start with. Luongo even with this whole fiasco is a top 5 goalie. Raymond is good for 40-50 points when healthy. Hadberg is 39, he holds no value at all

If Luongo didn't want out, I'd do it from the Canucks side.

If New Jersey wasn't in need of more forwards like Zajac (who ever said their forwards are laughable without him...Elias, Clarkson, Kovalchuk, that suped up third line from the playoffs...sucks they lost Parise, but it's not a bad core at all) perhaps, maybe I can see them being on board.

As it stands, neither team does this trade.

If Luongo was content to stay, and New Jersey had a few Semin/Doan esque signings to report, I'd say New Jersey adds, but it's not far off, as far as "vacuum trades" go.

clarkson is not a top six player. he'll rack up goals on the powerplay but trust me, no devils fan wants him above the third line. elias is 36 and you have to wonder how long he can keep scoring 70 points.

this is our current forward lineup with zajac. let's just say for gits and shiggles we sign semin too.
semin-zajac-kovalchuk
elias-henrique-zubrus
bernier-josefson-clarkson
carter-gionta-barch

not great, but passable. zubrus maybe shouldn't be in the top six but we can get by as long as henrique doesn't suffer a sophomore slump.
now without zajac

semin-elias-kovalchuk
zubrus-henrique-clarkson
carter-josefson-bernier
barch-gionta-janssen

that group will be lucky to score 2 a game. the 4th line would be useless, the third would be below average, same for the 2nd. no thank you.

The Devils finally have achieved centre depth after needing a second line centre ever since Gomez left. I don't expect Lou to give it up so soon.

If Gillis had the opportunity to trade Schneider for the moon, or Luongo for nothing, which option should he choose?

Haha. After the way he has been treated do you really blame him? That is what I am most ashamed about being a Nucks fan on how Luongo has been mistreated. He also said that he wants to stay but with the rumours about him being traded he said he wouldn't hold the team guy. Real classy guy

He doesnt have a NTC, he have nothing to say about it. He even accepted to sign with Vancouver while Luongo is still there.

If i remember well, Gillis said the leading possibility was Luongo and Schneider coming back next season, so i guess Schneider have no problem in not being a starter.

Schneider to NJ makes no sense now with Brodeur back and Hedberg re-signing (who also has a NTC).
