Ignoring the offer, why would Nash waive to go to Edmonton?

To play with a young and talented team with a very bright future in the next couple of years.

Except he already ignored Ottawa, who had a better offer on the table. Carolina, another team not on his list, who has better players is also not being considered. Why is Edmonton so special?

I forgot that they signed that generational defenseman that is going to change everybody's mind about Edmonton. My mistake.

All talk of value aside, is Edmonton really going to try to pick up another star winger? They have to be the worse possible fit for Nash in the league

I remember Nash signing a life time contract because he thought Columbus had a very bright future.

There's also the mall.

There's no way Edmonton takes that contract given they already have 4 potential star/superstar forwards still on ELCs.

What does ignoring Ottawa have to do with anything? Does Ottawa have Eberle, Hall, RNH, and Yakupov?

He wouldn't waive to go there and there have been much better offers from much better teams.

As an Oilers fan I would'nt want Nash and his giant contract. He would be a crippling cap hit for a guy that averages about 30-35 goals a year. Hall, Rnh, and Eberle will probably each get as many every year. And maybe Yak too.
Way over rated and over priced.

Nash doesn't want to

1. Play in Canada
2. Play where he has to be the #1 guy

That value is terrible, there's nothing there that Columbus would be the least bit interested in except for the draft pick.

Unless one of the Oilers uber forwards is in the package Columbus hangs up the phone.

No thank you to Rick Nash.Contract is brutal, and the Oilers need to fix their defence and not acquire another left winger.

Ignoring the offer, I dont know why EDM would not be interested in him.
EDM is barely hitting capfloor and with Hemsky going the other way could easily afford Nash.

EDM needs size in top 6 since the 4 kids and Gagner are not physical.

Also, Nash would not have to be a #1 guy in EDM.. he might not even be a #3 guy.

3 of the 4 uber forwards are already as good or better than Nash. And cheaper. And the 4th we have not seen yet but looks just as good. There really is no deal to be made from an Oilers perspective. Nash would just eat up cap room we will need in a couple years. Frankly I would not want him for a 7th round pick with that contract.

That is your opinion. It is an overpayment IMO.
Dont want to bash Nash but adding one of our top 4 guys in a package for Nash is unrealistic since they all hold more value.

As a couple people have pointed out, Nash's desires aside, why would Edmonton even want to acquire him and that disgusting contract?

big body, natural LW, highly skilled ... will round off our top 6 nicely.

Nash-Gagner-Eberle a 2nd line behind the 1st overall line

for Hemsky + change.. why not

Edmonton was second worst to Columbus, do you honestly think he wants to change his destination to relive this crap?

I can give you 7.8 million reasons. And they last till 2018. Like I said I would not want him for a 7th round pick
