That's why you're not an NHL gm.

The salary cap is at 70 million. Not 48 million. And they aren't going to be that much cheaper than Rick Nash they way the cap keeps climbing rapidly.

**** no from Edmonton. No desire to spend 7.8 million on a player who would be at best a 2nd line winger on the team. Wouldn't add much to Horcoff for Nash tbh. Reminds me of Cambell of last season he just doesn't hold much value with that contract and his subpar level of play.

That is the point. I dont want to waste that much money on a mid level star when I will need it for the fab four soon.

Exactly. You have to overpay players that are not worth it to be one of those. Like the guy that signed Nash

Take out MPS and I'd do it.

Nash is a little overpaid and he'd be a second line LW.

Nash wouldn't want to come to Edmonton and Edmonton doesn't want a guy who gets paid 7.8 mil to get 60 points a year. If it is true that he doesn't want to be the main guy in a Canadian market because it's "too much pressure" then why would any team want a guy with that type of loser attitude. Winners want to be challenged in tough situations, not hide from them. I guarantee that this offer will be pretty sweet compared to whatever Columbus eventually gets for him.

The offer means nothing to Nash. I could see him being interested in Edmonton... however I don't see Howson moving him there without one of their big 4 going back... meaning there's no deal. I also don't see how Edmonton would be interested due to his cap hit.

Edit:
Carolina might have a couple better players now (am thinking more of Ward than either of the Staals). But I think most would agree that Edmonton's future is probably currently the brightest in the NHL.

They are about to turn a corner like Washington and Pittsburgh did. Who cares what their record was last year.

Nash will not approve a trade to a Canadian franchise. It's been documented.

You can't compare teams who have generational talents to teams that don't. It skews any argument. There is a good chance three of the 4 are going to be all-stars, but not generational stars.

Columbus had one of the brighter futures a couple years ago. Brassard, Voracek, Filatov, Nash and of course Steve Mason. Now they are a bottom feeder, Nash wants to go where there is a proven track record of winning(as indicated by his list).

Hemsky is change... so really it's "change + change".

Yea yea blah blah blah almost PPG player before. Doesn't matter, injury history does drastically drive down a players value, especially when it's SIGNIFICANT injury history over three straight years.

I like the first round pick in 2013 being thrown in there. Comical being as it will be a top 3 pick again so they have no chance in keeping it. Keep trolling Oilers.

I was going to reply to this but this guy did a good job.

That said, points for a funny post, I guess.

Not true. He has no problem with a Canadian franchise. The problem is that none of the Canadian franchises except Vancouver can be considered serious contenders. His list is full of teams he could realistically win a Stanley Cup on. No matter how bright the Oiler's future looks, the team hasn't proven anything yet. A trade with Edmonton won't work because one of your big four would have to come back. Nothing else on that roster can outmatch what other teams have offered for Nash.

Additionally, the idea that Nash would be on your second line is ridiculous. There is no way that Nash wouldn't knock either Eberle or Hall off of that first line.

Now now, fans arguing back and forth looks like value is quiet fair tbh

Nash would be 2nd line for sure on the oilers and there's no way cbj is better than the oilers this year or in the near future

Edmonton doesn't want Nash, Nash doesn't want to play for the Oil, and Columbus wouldn't make that trade. What's the point of further discussion?

EDM doesn't need another winger, especially at Nash's cap hit.

CBJ wouldn't even consider the trade since the value is far off.

1. Nash seems to be content staying in the USA so Edmonton is most likely not getting him.

2. (And this is the most important.) HOW is this fair value for Nash? Like the Leafs with Kessel and Gardiner the starting point for Edmonton is 1 of the "big" 4.

If you want to discuss Nash to insert team here, the thread is there ^.
