Didn't he spend a lot of the year complaining he wasn't getting bigger minutes? I can't imagine any team signing him and giving him a top-six role. Unless maybe he goes to a rebuilding team as a mentor / stop-gap?
If the Bruins don't resign Pouliot, then I could see them picking up Knuble again. Chia's low to no risk trades and pickups work very well. Pouliot, although a lot less than spectacular, is the cheapest 16 goals you'll get, 1.1m.
I imagine he'll see if the Red Wings will take him, since they were his childhood team and he still lives in Michigan. If they're not interested, he'll probably retire. As much as he says he's still in shape and can still play, it was pretty evident this year that he's lost a step or three.
Best of luck Knoobs. You were a great soldier and citizen. I only wish we'd gotten you 6 years ago.
George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
CSN: You have a home in East Grand Rapids. Would the Detroit Red Wings be a possibility?
Knuble: We are going back that way and we are going to live in Michigan, probably the rest of our lives, or at least until the kids go to school and are out of college. Detroit would be a neat story since I was drafted there. I’ll make no secret about that. That would be a nice way to come back around. You don’t have that luxury, but maybe a team has a hole and I can fill fit for a year until a prospect develops.
