What are People Most looking for/hoping to happen at the scrimmage?

Being a veteran of 8 developmental camps I can say that the Sabres have never had this much talent collected for the event. There is a terrific blend of high end talent, some size and grit and some under the radar prospects that have impressed so far.

What is the thing you hope to see happen or the player you will key in on?

For me, there are several (I will preface this by saying I haven't been able to make it to any of the practices this year):

1) Girgs/Grigs/Armia-How do they fare going against some veteran talent on the other side.
2) How Ullmark looks. A lot of good reviews thus far. Might he turn into a quality goaltender prospect for down the road.
3) Kea- Both Darcy and Bakes have singled him out as someone who has stood out
4) Navin- Impressed me last year, want to see how he has matured
5) Peterson- A lot of positive reviews about his combo of speed/skill
6) Cat- didn't get to see him last year, see how he preforms with Sundher

Lets hear yours.

Outside of the obvious few, Logan Nelson and Justin Kea have piqued my interest. Both are quality players, from what I can see.

I also hope Freddy Roy impresses.

I'm hoping to have a good time with a friend of mine in Buffalo from NYC, watching prospects and rookies scrimmage

Im curious as to why you think he'll be a bust? I think best case scenario he turns into Vanek version 2...decent size, crazy shot, decent point totals but lacking elite talent stats.

worst case he still projects to be a perenial 20-30-50 ish winger who can play wing in the top 6-9 on this team.

i think you've given him too low of a ceiling. he's much faster than Vanek and has more talent in general. he has "elite" ability imo.

I think thats fair to say. Though I think Vanek's teammates, injuries, and Lindy's system have kept Vanek from being an elite talent...I should have clarified that Armia playing in Buffalo I think has a Vanek-like ceiling

There's no way a perennial 50 point player is his worst case. His worst case is that he never plays regularly for Buffalo.

He's from Buffalo, has lived in NYC since 9/11. He comes back to B-lo a few times a year.

That's your best case scenario? Best case: He's Vanek + the things we often whine about Vanek not being (ie: a better skater, better at creating his own offense, better puck-handling).

Few things I will be interested to hear about:

Luke Adam - Has he pulled his head out of his ass from last year?
Brayden McNabb - Is he NHL ready?
TJ Brennan - Is he ready to be the new 7 dman
Grigorenko - Is he NHL ready?
Armia - How does he look? What is in store for us next year when his military service is over?
Girgensons - Is he going to live up to all the hype he's been getting around here?
MA Pysyk - Will he push for a roster spot? Will he play in rochester?
Ullmark/Kea - What do we have in these guys? Will they develop into nhl players down the road?

I'm curious to see how the UFA invitees perform. And overall competitiveness for all of 'em. There is a big difference body-wise between 18 and 21 or 22 years old, so seeing if the younger guys are sticking themselves into the fray, even to fail, rather than coasting around the edges.

Chemistry between the higher end guys too, Grigorenko-Armia in particular since they have such nicely complimentary skill sets.

...fast release, high tempo, initiate contact.

Armia could be a bigger, faster, more physical player than Vanek if he puts it all together. All those years of hoping and wishing Vanek turns into Hossa, those wishes might come true in a way.

Brennan is a 4th year guy, so he's not at camp. It's rare for anyone in their 4th year to be there unless they have never played a pro game (Biega, Persson are the only ones I can think of in recent years).

Though his English wasn't very good and there's a chance he didn't understand what the term meant, he referred to himself as a power forward (in development) in his interview on Sabres.com.

He's certainly got the size for it and has been a horse on the puck for the most part. From what I recall, our Finnish posters said that Joel was engaging in physical play/initiating it himself as his season went on.

I don't see him in the same vein as a "true" power forward, but his skillset is definitely unique.

I'm hoping to see lots of compete from both Armia and Grigorenko.

I also forgot to add - I want to see Fienhage's game against his own teammates. He's played his game all camp long. I want to see it in an actual scrimmage.

I'm not really sure what I want, but I know who we should be watching. The CoHo, Adam, Tropp group vs. The Grigs, Girgs, Armia matchup. The high end prospects vs. The guys who are on the cusp. I guess I should want CoHo to school the kids for obvious reasons, but there is a part of me that wants the kids to come out like the Fab 5 and put on a clinic. This is really the only matchup that truly grabs my attention and I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Would like to see Coho (in particular) but also Foligno, Adam, Tropp, McNabb and even Varone being dominant, just showing their experience and strength.

Would like to se the special skills of the younger guys shine (Grigs and Armia) through. I would hope to see flashes, while not expecting that they are dominant.

Continued leadership from Girgensens.

I would like to see good things from Kea, McCabe, Peterson and Nelson.

Would like to see Roy continue to showcase his effort and heart for the feel good story of it.

Would like to see Knapp and Ullmark do well.
