ECHL (and other league) teams reaching out to locked out NHL fans

Aportzline 11:26am via TweetDeck Cincinnati Cyclones of #ECHL announce "Lockout Relief" package. Six tickets and a t-shirt for $85! #nhl'spain #echl'sgain #longlivethechill

I know that the new ECHL San Francisco Bulls team is advertising to reach out to Sharks fans.

And perhaps, the players?

The ECHL has a limit of 4 players with more than 260 "pro" games (NHL, minor leagues + Europe) and there's a salary cap ($12,400/week).

CHL is getting a new CBA, but the old one had a limit of 6 players with 301+ pro games (and weekly roster cap of $11,000).

The more I think about it, the more I'm positive that the owner of the Express pulled the plug too soon. Not doubting he lost money in their inaugural and only season, as I can personally attest to the small crowds that were there, but there are going to be a lock of hungry hockey fans in Chicagoland that the Wolves alone aren't going to be able to sustain.

An even cheaper live alternative probably would've been at least a decent sell in the NW suburbs and Fox Valley, especially with the fact that fans wouldn't have to missed televised Hawks games.

Well, there's still the Wolves and the Steel in the Chicago area now that the Hitmen are gone and the Blackhawks are locked out.

Steel are essentially a non-factor, though. Not going to lie, I'm going to go to a game or two of theirs should the lockout last a few months, but they essentially play in a practice facility and Bensenville is more famous for being slowly gobbled up by O'Hare than as a locale for watching sports.
