While they keep saying the PK was a group effort from the entire coaching staff, he was apparently mainly in charge of the PP, not the PK. So I think he can build on that success somewhere else in the NHL.

One of the asst coaches had a couple of seats a few from ours in 110, his wife came to about 1/4 or 1/2 of the games - don't remember if it was Shaw's or not. Sad to see her go if it was - tall pretty blonde though I've never seen someone so disinterested in a hockey game, she'd come dressed well (never wore any sharks gear, usually SF metro black) and would be on her smartphone most of the time. Kindof like my GF watching me write computer code.

Yep it was most definitely after Thornton's line spent a ton of time in the offensive zone and we drew a penalty. The PP unit was very tired and we needed that goal to win.

I remember that too. Actually that is one thing that makes me happy about getting Robinson. In case TMac takes a stick to his face again this year (j/k) atleast we have some coaching experience on the bench. Shaw and Woodcraft looked like deer in the headlights while running the team last year.

I used to think you looked kinda like Lex Luthor, which was pretty cool. Then you and your buddy Teaboy(Woodcroft) started to stink up the place. Now we got Larry Robinson and some other guy so you need to leave.
Didn't get scored on, but had a awfully tired PP unit out there trying to tie the game. I dont think they ever took the timeout. After that it became painfully obvious that there wasn't anybody qualified to run an NHL bench after Todd.
And this is way OT and a little random, but Im going to miss thinking that Matt Shaw looks like Dmitri Rascalov from GTA4 everytime he was interviewed before the 3rd period.
Still, it is easy for others to speculate because Shaw’s delineated duties included the power play (No. 2 in the NHL) and not the much maligned penalty kill (No. 29 in the NHL). That fell under Woodcroft’s jurisdiction, though both McLellan and Shaw agreed there was shared responsibility among the entire staff.
But here’s what Shaw did say:
“I’d just say to you in general, I stand by my work there the last three years, certainly with the power play,” Shaw said. “There’s no other team in the league that had a Top 5 power play the last three years.

So did I. Maybe because it was always Shaw that was so sympathetic with the results of poor play, and that he was the "head" coach while Koala was out with the concussion? I dunno.
Either way, makes me wonder what sort of role Woodcroft is going to play moving forward. "Minimal" is the sort I'm hoping for.
