I have no idea what the roster will be with wolski signed.

I think wolski on the top 6 would be good. He has size and skill.

I don't think he fits well on the 4th line

We apparently put in an offer to him as well. Creasy on twitter said he could land here as well. I'm not banking on it but we did offer him something.

He's not a bottom six signing -- doesn't have that skill set. He either earns a top 6 spot or winds up in Hershey.

Someone on the main board thread said he's been working out this summer with Gary Roberts, which I find encouraging.

If you connect the team to every available player, that'll happen.

On one hand it's nice to find out he doesn't have injury problems. I saw the number of games he played over the last few years and the first thing that popped into my head was injury prone. However the fact that he suffers from "Sasha Cares" syndrome is a red flag but for 600k it's a hell of a bargain.

I feel like he and Ribeiro could mesh well. Even if he doesn't, he's good for at least 30-40 points.

Will AO see the ice in a shootout?

Should be fun watching shootouts this season with Wolski, Riberio and Hendricks.

Only if he's already got two goals in the game

Terrible.

If you don't like Semin you will HATE ( I mean HATE!) Wolski. Just a pizz poor player at any cost IMO.

Terrible if he is in your top 6. Terrible in your bottom six. He is the definition of a "tweener" to an extreme.

Good at shootouts. I guess we will be going for ties and then hooking shootout points this year.

Something on the lines of this?

Ovi - Backs - Brouwer
Wolski - Ribs - Mojo
Chimmer - Laich - Ward
Hendricks - Beagle - Crabb

How can anyone say 600k on a 2 way contract is terrible for a guy who is 2 yrs removed from scoring 23 goals?

Where's the risk?????

They were at what, 40 contracts?

Some organizational filler was needed. Wolski will be a top 6 fill-in, sometimes healthy scratch, and AHL player.

No risk move with modest reward potential.

The development camp thread saw some discussion about how Galiev is pretty much the only real top 6 winger they can call up from Hershey. Signing Wolski addresses that issue and gives the Caps some wiggle room with handling Galiev in his first professional season.

Wasn't that basically Perrault's role though? It makes me wonder if this signing means Perrault's on the block, since having the two of them seems totally redundant to me (barring serious injuries of course, though if we're starting Wolski and Perrault in our top 6 we're not going anywhere anyway). Maybe my dreams of trading Perrault + for Hjalmarsson or Murray aren't as farfetched as I thought!

Would love to get Hjalmarsson. (Murray's not the player he once was.) But trade 85 or Wolski for him and the top 6 is even weaker.

I would much prefer Hjalmarsson too, but Murray is at the very least a significant upgrade on Schultz and Erskine as Orlov's partner. And I'm operating under the assumption that McPhee isn't really planning on going into the season with a 600K player coming off a 4 goal season as his 2LW, and that he'll be adding someone more significant to our top 6 (still holding out hope for Semin if the price is right, or maybe Doan or Kostitsyn).
