One of the hardest pills to swallow in the Boyle trade was losing Wishart... He's now on Waivers.

Why? He's still not an NHL player, looks like a good deal to me...

Thanks (and to LS). I think signing Sheppard to an AHL contract would be great for him to get is game back and just play some hockey.

Is there any reason we'd not sign Kennedy or Pertrecki to some kind of contract, either AHL or 2 way NHL??

Even with the deal, it speaks to the drafting by the organization. Personally, the toughest was Carle because he was a young NHL'er that just needed some seasoning to be a damn solid PMD but that's the price you pay for a #1 of sorts in this league. We traded two mid to late 1st rounders with Carle for Boyle and Lukowich. It's a high price and probably one you would do again. However, it's a trade that is unnecessary if the organization was better at utilizing their non-top ten first round picks.

Sorry, misunderstood. At the time of the trade Wishart was a hard pill to swallow. I'm not saying he's a NHL player or we're NOW sad to see him moved on from the organization.

He can't play in the AHL during the lockout without clearing waivers. The only locked out players that can play in the AHL under an AHL contract are players that were on last season's AHL Clear Day roster or players that finished the season on an AHL roster.

Not that I can think of.

Murray hops on plane back for SJ, talks to Pollak about frustrations of lockout, etc.

‘OK, we’re taking away 20 percent of your salary.’

Oh is that a tear running down my cheek?

Oh no wait...it's just a piece of cheese.

The players have zero leverage. They even admit they are arguing more about the principle of the matter than the actual salary. Because many of them know theyll be just fine with a 20% cut. Arguing on principle makes zero sense in business.

Sharks statement to fans: fans/partners (read sponsors) are our highest priority. This negotiation is for the good of the game.

Jason Demers will be playing in Finland for Oulun Kärpät during the lockout. Jussi Jokinen is also joining Kärpät.

Sharks d-man Jason Demers has agreed to play with Karpat in Oulu of SM-liiga (Finland). By my count, he's the first NA player going overseas

Sounds like Nikolai Kulemin (TOR) will finalize a deal with Metallurg soon, and Michal Handzus (SJ) will join Banska Bystrica in Slovakia

Does anyone know which leagues besides the Swedish Elite expect NHL players to complete their overseas contracts, regardless of whether or not the NHL season resumes?

In case anyone was curious, per my ticket rep, the Sharks / SSE will not be offering any kind of interest/incentive to season ticket holders.

Check out the BOH forum and search on "Europe". There are a couple of threads.

Can they come back if the NHL starts again or are they stuck there?

Well they better be offering straight up refunds. I'll be furious if they decide to "roll over" my balance to the next season.
