You guys can really use another center, push Mueller to wing, then trade Upshall.
Land of forgotten toys?

Also you are forgetting Huberdeau, and possibly Bjugstad/Howden.

Kopckey will not be on our second line for sure. We probably aren't done either.

You expect Huberdeau and Bjugstad to step right into the second line center and the first line left wing?

That looks much better than the other one but is Bjugstad really ready for top 6 minutes?

Are you serious? If he was concussion free he would be worth a lot more than that.

He might be, I would probably start him on the third line first. But he really impressed in the camp, his size is really impressive for a guy that is only 20.

I honestly haven't seen alot of him so I am not sure what he is ready for, it seems like alot to ask of a 20 yearold to step in the second line role. Maybe sign Wellwood as an insurance policy?

Yes, he is. It's a matter of whether or not he decides to leave school.

Still feel like the Panthers need another reasonably established center incase Bjugstad/Huberdeau aren't able to fill that 2C spot effectively straight away.

Still, they've got a nice looking lineup providing everyone stays healthy:

Versteeg - Weiss - Fleischmann
Huberdeau - X - Mueller
Bergenheim - Goc - Upshall
Kopecky - Matthias - Skille
Parros + Santorelli

Should definitely be competitive in the southwest again barring any injuries.

I agree. I would want Wellwood to sign here, he would be a good fit for us. Does he want to sign here? Does Tallon want him? We don't know, but if he doesn't I think Bjugstad can put up good/great numbers as a top 6 player.

Thats bold to say that a good college player is ready to be a top 6 nhl player.

Of late, it's not as crazy as it used to be.

The Avs have had players like Kevin Shattenkirk (played top 4 minutes out of college, minor AHL time), Mark Olver (played top 6 minutes with Duchene pre-concussion, some AHL time), Brandon Yip (played top 6 minutes rookie season, was effective, some AHL time)... those are off the top of my head.

Also just wanted to add, if Florida uses him at center they will be making a pretty big mistake in my opinion. Without some serious conditioning and bulking up, I can't believe he can handle the rigors of being a center again at the NHL level, nor was he particularly good on the dot when he did take some faceoffs for us.

Never said it was crazy but Shattenkirk was 22, Olver was 23 and didn't play top 6 minutes, Yip was 24 and didn't play top 6 minutes. Very few players can make that kind of jump.

He is big that doesn't mean he is ready for nhl speed or to take faceoff's against nhl players. Like I said he could make the jump but it is very rare that the player is a top 6 player immediately.

Best of luck, Mules. Sorry we couldn't keep him in the fold here with the Avs, but it made sense for both parties to just move on. Really is one of the nicest guys I've had a chance to meet. We'll be rooting for him to do well, and most of all stay healthy.

Tallon is such a badass GM. Competitive team made almost entirely out of scraps.

Yeah, he was great with the fans. At least in my experiences

I was hoping JR would try out Mueller as one of his reclamation projects, but no. We sign Gragnani. God dammit.

South Florida isn't the Bible Belt.

How's Mueller in the SO?
