When it comes to keyboards he was the GOAT

Lucky enough to see him 3 times.

May he rest in peace. Him and Jim will be jamming any time now.

Rest in peace. Interesting quote...

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/...0E11X820130520

Quote:
Manzarek, who was born in Chicago in 1939, embraced old age in a 2006 interview with Reuters.

"We occupy these bodies for 70, 80, 90 years, and it's so much fun being alive on planet Earth that you want to keep this thing as fresh as you possibly can," he said.

"The spirit, the mind, the soul, what's inside of you just gets hipper and hipper as you get older. ... You get a whole broadened outlook on things," he added. "That just naturally keeps going, but the damn body slows down."

Wow...just wow..

This is the first time that one of these threads has really affected me. The guy was really a great musician, and The Doors are one of my favourite bands of all time.

That guy could
Make that keyboard absolutely sing!

Rest well. You'll be missed.

Morrison overshadowed everyone in The Doors, but they were all a talented lot. Sorry to hear this news.

Doors were my favorite band as a kid. My dad got me all their stuff. His first record was LA Woman. Terrible news to say the least.

RIP Ray

You really couldn't pick a better album to showcase Ray either. His solos in Riders and LA Woman were sick.

His house is actually just a short walk from my parents' home. He'd play regularly with local bands in recent years. Bummer.

Yup. He was my favorite part of The Doors, to boot. What a great life, deserves to be celebrated by all music fans.
