Actually I was referring to that power metal joke, but still there are some serious bands.
I love Forest Stream (may be my favorite band), Old Wainds, Навь (Nav'), Темнозорь (Temnozor'), Molot Vedim, Мор (Mor), Темноврат (Temnovrat), Nar Mattaru, Walknut, Djur, Thy Repentance and so on, tons of "around-black" metal.

Among folker/paganish metal, there are Butterfly Temple, Аркона (Arkona), Калевала (Kalevala), СатанаКозёл (SatanaKozel, no relation to satanism).

Death metal: Katalepsy, Scrambled Defuncts, Neurosplit Prophet etc., I'm not a big fan of "Slamming Brutal Death", so most Russian DM bands are not for me.

Also, Harmony in Grotesque, Aria's former guitarists' bands Sergey Mavrin (Сергей Маврин) and Артерия, "happy power" metal Эпидемия and Catharsis, older bands like Легион, Мастер, Чёрный Обелиск, Коррозия Металла etc.

Not all these bands are awesome but some surely kick.

Also how can some of you guys make top 30, 40, 50 of the year album lists, when about 95% of the bands in the world suck donkey balls?

I can list less than ten albums I fully enjoyed. I thought Gojira, Unsung Heroes, Dethklok III, Silverthorn, Resolution, and Stones Grow Her Name were all pretty terrible from bands I like.

Threshold - March of Progress
Cloudscape - New Era
Xandria - Neverworld's End (Probably the best album of 2012)
Between the Buried and Me - Future Sequences
Wintersun - Time I
Dying Fetus - Reign Supreme
Soundgarden - King Animal

5% is still more than a 1 000 000 bands

Have you heard the new Helloeween EP?`The full album will be released this month.
Consider your list, you also need to check out Angel of salvation by Galneryus and Ascending to Infinity by Rhapsody.

Ok 98% if bands suck in the world.

I don't hate Helloween at all, I actually consider them to be a great band. But I prefer Gamma Ray much more, so what is the point of listening to them when they basically sound similar, you know?

Dude that was an awesome song . For Japanese bands you should check out these three as well,

Also Rhapsody hasn't made a good album since Symphony of Enchanted Lands II and now Turilli has left so I am done with that band. The same thing happened to me and Stratovarius, I have all their albums until Elements II and I am done with them.

I think Helloween have had a very diffrent sound since Kai left. Kai had/has his own melodies that made helloween helloween back then and they are what makes Gamma Ray now. But with Deris they have started to sound alot diffrent in a wierd way. They are still great but i cant say they sound the same.

Have heard 2 of them before. Listening to the last one now, so far it sounds great
Except for that entire being a pirate thing. But musically, they kick ass

No, i mean LUCA TURILLIS Rhapsody. There are two Rhapsodys now. Rhapsody of Fire and LTs Rhapsody. They cloned themself Its Luca with completly diffrent members + Guers. The new CD is amazing and contains 3 of his absolute best songs.

Thanks

Kudos on enjoying RSG, they're good dudes.

Are you looking for the same vein of death/thrash, or just newer thrash in general? There's a ton of "retro" thrash non sense out there, most of which is pig swill. But there are some awesome bands as well.

Vektor
Toxic Holocaust
Necropsy
Pyrotoxic
Bunker 66

I agree a lot of the new wave of retro thrash is throwaway and not that memorabale a listen.

Good list. Toxic Holocaust is my favorite of that bunch, I love the entire Overdose of Death cd. I also like Municipal Waste who are a fun listen.

I really like Warbringer live, but I dont think any of their cd releases have lived up to their live performances / potential. I keep hoping they will have a breakout cd.

Anyone who's in the folk mood, probably some of my favourite tunes of pagan/viking/folk genre.

Also Finntroll is garbage.

Hey guys, maybe you can help me find something like Vader's "The Book":

It reminds me a bit of early 90's Sepultura (Chaos A. D., Roots). I like Vader but this is one of their few slower and darker tracks which is exactly what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?
