Why did a Canadian band name their band "Gris", which translates into "pig" in Swedish?

Thats not really brutal..

Becuase they're not Swedish. They're French Canadian, and in French, "gris" means "grey." They were originally named Niflheim, but changed their name to avoid confusion with the other bands that have essentially that name.

Also, since when is depressive black metal supposed to be "brutal?"

All forms of Black Metal should be brutal in one way or another. What does BM have if does not sound raw, evil, or.. black? Other than the gay image offcourse.

Black Metal has no "should"! It's the entire point of the genre's philosophy!

Almost no black metal can be considered "brutal." That's a word that tends to be reserved for the ****tier forms of death metal. Evil isn't the same as raw isn't the same as brutal. They are all different concepts with different sounds.

Also, a power metal fan calling anything "gay."

The last two tracks are up there with anything Darkthrone has done recently, but I still think Circle the Wagons was a better overall album. I loved the heavy/black/crust sound of FOAD, DTaBF, and CtW.

I thought it was commonly known that Black Metal had the most gay image in the metal scene. The genre is dominated by men, who wear tight leather clothes, often with chains of them and they like to wear make up.

You cannot deny the similarity between these two styles. And what is up with the power metal stuff? The power metal image is far from "gay", what is so gay about shirts and... life?

(And i do not mean gay as in it's a bad thing, I am just pointing out something obvious.)

Ha ha.. This can be said about metal overall, but especially power.

Power Metal isn't gay because of the pics. I mean, have you listened to these guys sing about dragons with high voice?

Their BM era is so long forgotten it doesn't matter now.

Ofc it can be said about metal overall, but it is more common in BM, espacilly the makeup.
And what do you mean espacilly power? And how is Harcore Superstar power metal? Are they even metal? Manowar is also more heavy than power.

I am sorry but what? Fantasy have a minor part in the power metal community. Now your showing how little you know of the genre. The majority of bands do not sing about dragons and fighting elfs, fantasy is common theme for metaphorical stuff tho. There are more bands then Rhapsody. Now you are just being ignorant about the genre...

The issue with the majority of European power metal is that it completely forgets its roots in heavy metal. It forgets that riffs are supposed to accompany the melodies, not more melodies but from keyboards.

Fairyland, Skylark, Dark Moor, Rhapsody, etc. is garbage

THIS is power metal

Wrong, Rhapsody is far from garbage.

It has been for months' now. Started when people were arguing what is better, doom or black metal when both are pretty retarded.

LOL at calling Rhapsody garbage. Rhapsody are amazing, a very unique band composed of extremly talented musicians who have been written excellent music for years. Hess was an awful replacement tho, his wacken performence was **** Turilli is light years beyond him and a vast majority in metal overall. Superb guitarrist.

Rhapsody might be technically sound and unique, but their music is ****ing awful, boring and camp beyond what I am willing to accept.
