AAL has some really damn good instrumental work. For some reason, I would kill to see Tom Morello play with them.

I've never heard of these guys until about 10 minutes ago:

Not that they're bad... their first album came out 10 years ago.

Could not get into Wormed at all when I saw them at MDF a few years ago. Got bored partway through their set and stopped watching. Not into that vein of brutal tech death.

Constantly blabbing your metal knowledge & your superior opinion & taste is about as un-metal as you get.

This thread used to be one of the best a few years back. Now it's filled with insecure turd nuggets trying to dictate others' musical taste out of their own insecurity.

Metal is the most diverse music around, that's why it unites so many. Opinions are just that, an opinion.

Trashing ATG should be blasphemous though! They announced a late summer N/A run btw.

Headed out to see BTBAM in a little bit, boys. Here's hoping for a killer show.

Seen them last month, epic show, especially with Russian Circles and Unexpect opening!

Saw them with Animals as Leaders and Tesseract on the Parallax I tour. Also saw them do Colors live in its entirety at House of Blues in New Orleans. Amazing shows and experiences both.

It was awesome. Met Dustie before the show, met Paul and Dan after the show. They didn't headline, so it was a short set, but damn they killed. Missed Russian Circles because me and my boys were having a few drinks at the local watering hole.

They closed the set with Selkies, which I didn't think they even played live anymore... but I was happy they did.

A couple pages ago S E P H mentioned he didn't like the vocals of At the Gates and can't get into In Flames in general. I've just listened to In Flames' Subterranean and I have to agree somewhat. I generally don't like melo-death that much and don't like the screamed vocal style of most of these bands. It just seems the polar opposite for death metal like Sinister, whom are overflowing with spirit. (Okay maybe not At the Gates on this score, they get a pass for being originators and having some solid albums.) Don't get me wrong, I like At the Gates first two albums but they sure begat a lot of ****. If one wants to hear some melodic-tinged death metal, he or she can do no better than Amorphis, Therion, or Dissection. At the Gates, Sentenced, Tiamat, Dark Tranquillity, and Edge of Sanity all had okay to good early output. Pestilence (Testimony of the Ancients, Spheres) is also okay and Arch Enemy sucks (as do Dark Tranquillity and In Flames for the most part).

Anyone planning on going to Mayhem Fest this year? Official lineup comes out tomorrow but it looks like Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, and Rob Zombie are all going to be on the Bill this year.

At the Gates, Sentenced, and Tiamat all had brilliant output while Pestilence released one of the best DM albums ever in Consuming Impulse.
