NEW KVELERTAK ALBUM!!!!!!!

So far it's been a slow burner for me, but, so was the first one, and I remember once I "got" it, it was like the sun exploding. Need to be patient with this one too

new Dark Tranquillity due out in May. I didn't fall in love with their last album, it was good but very similar to Fiction. I hope they're not planning to make the same exact album again. I will still buy it because they have been one of my top 3 favorite bands for a good 15 years. They've definitely earned my loyalty.

A DT classic. If this doesn't do something for you then something's wrong:

Here's a new EP from Beherit--vinyl release only as far as I know (the link has a good writeup on it too):

http://www.deathmetal.org/news/beher...rate-the-dead/

Hope it comes out on CD. Not as good as Engram but an interesting listen nonetheless.

Seems like Anus.com gets a lot of its metal content from Deathmetal.org (albums reviews, articles, etc.).

Anus? Hahaha.

..

The mystery of time is one of the greatest metal cds ever made. Tobias has done the impossible again, he succeded himself. "The watchmakers dream" will be the song of the year. It has everything! Joe Lynn Turner just kills it and the music... my god

WHAT A SONG
What a cd

Been on a major Black Sabbath kick lately. Specifically their first 4 (and best IMO) albums.

Yeah sort of. Every now and then there is a new album review. There are some links and little news blurbs on the right margin that also seen new. I like their top 15 / 16 lists for black and death metal.

Kiske doesn't 'destroy all other metal vocalists...'

He has NOTHING on the likes of John Arch, David DeFeis, and King Diamond.

Which are the best sites for album reviews? For me the best is deathmetal.org / anus.com and the worst is allmusic.com. The former have some real in-depth reviews and get pretty heady. They seem to know their stuff about music theory while also framing the works in the context of culture / society. Allmusic simply doesn't know **** about black metal, death metal, and grindcore. They call Autopsy grindcore FFS! Also they revise their ratings after the fact when they realize they ****ed up. For instance Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger went straight from two to four-and-a-half stars.

www.metal-archives.com. The site gets some flack because there's some elitism floating around there, and elitism certainly doesn't exist anywhere else on the internet. The site at first had an open policy towards submitted reviews but they've put standards in place so most of the reviews are of decent quality.

http://autothrall.blogspot.com/ A really good and prolific reviewer.

anus is a hotbed of pseudo-intellectualism and bargain basement antisemitism. Ignore them.

Find particular reviewers that have similar tastes to you, rather than trusting a particular website/magazine/blog/what have you.
