Taurus was boring as ****.

I remember at one point during their set some guy yelled out SLAYYYYERRR and normally I'd find that obnoxious, but I was fighting falling asleep during their set so it made me chuckle.

Agalloch ruled so much though. Playing In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion properly instead of the altered live version I've heard on youtube? AMAZING.

And for the person who asked for Agalloch's set list:

Limbs
The Watcher's Monolith
Faustian Echoes
Ghosts of the Midwinter Fires
Into the Painted Grey
Hallways of Enchanted Ebony
You Were But a Ghost in My Arms
In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion
Kneel to the Cross (Sol Invictus cover)
Encore:
Our Fortress Is Burning... I
Our Fortress is Burning... II: Bloodbirds

Yeah. the keyboard has some Tony Kakko feeling to it. But i also keep thinking X Japan. Didnt feel any Korpiklaani, Celesty and Kenziner in the following part. But it reminded me alot of Luca Turilli. Just listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOWIiRGw2kw

It's pretty crazy that Mr Bungle started out as a pretty god damn kick ass thrash metal band. Not to shabby for high school aged kids in 1986.

Was so bummed out when I got the DVD and it was the abbreviated "In the Shadow..." It's one of my favorite songs by them and to speed it up doesn't do it justice. So excited to see them play it the right way on Sunday.

Perfect setlist, too. Thanks for posting.

*Note low budget MV*

Brand new song by Cloudscape. It's been forever since their last album, but the good news is I absolutely LOVING this song.

That BTBAM song is absolutely amazing. Reminds me a lot of Obfuscation and Backwards Marathon combine into one.

Also is their any Falkenbach fans here? He is absolutely amazing as well.

E: Also can't wait until Threshold's new album, the song in the preview video was awesome. Good fall year for 2012.

This is one amazing live act, obviously YT never makes a band justice but this is still pretty good even though it's a band you really have to be there to "feel" the music aswell.

Some good music coming up in the next month and a bit. New King of Asgard is out in a couple of days and then in August there is new stuff from Korpiklaani, Ensiferum and Threshold with new live release from Helstar. Also a new Kaipa album for anyone who likes lighter prog music.

Threshold finally released some of their new music.

Album trailer:

Radio edit of Ashes:

Also, Devin Townsend released a vid with a bit of a preview for Epicloud:

Yeah, that bit has some similarity to Pride of the Tyrant, the bit I thought sounded like those other bands was the bit that followed the first fast part.

As for X Japan, the only song I know of theirs is Silent Jealousy so I can't really comment on any similarities with them.

For all Down fans here, a new song (off of their upcoming first EP that'll be out September 18th) has just been released:

Another track is also floating out there called The Misfortune Teller. Here it is. It's ripped from premier on liquid metal. Got the link from the Down forum since I do post there occasionally.

Even though I wasn't crazy about Down III: Over The Under, I can't wait for this first EP. Although Phil's vocals sound so different on Witchtripper. Doesn't sound like his usual style at all. It's still a badass ****ing song though.

Fantastic.

Has anyone listened to the new A Forest Of Stars yet? Their new video is stylish.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who prefers that logo and that era of At the Gates (though Slaughter of the Soul is still a great album, shut up Mort). At the Gates binges are always awesome.

Seeing Agalloch tonight. Will be my third time. Here's to hoping they're more impressive than the prior two. If they aren't, it'll probably be the last time I see them.

Couldn't help but laugh at that

Absolutely adore the first two At the Gates albums, but just cannot get into their works after. They went from having really interesting songwriting and melodies when Alf was in the band, to after his departure losing anything that ever really made them appeal to me. He was truly a weird musician, especially shown off in Oxiplegatz.

A couple of months ago, I was driving around sometime during the lunch hour and one of the rock stations here does a "90's at noon" thing. I heard a song that I remembered from my club kid days, and I made a point of driving around the block until the dj said what it was. Turns out it was Juke-Joint Jezebel.

I guess it must have been 96 when Nihil came out. One night I was down at a long-closed nightclub here called Luvafair. It was a great alternative/industrial dance club that never made its mind up about what sexuality it catered to, but that was just part of its charm. Anything went in there. The night I heard Juke-Joint Jezebel, I actually lurched out onto the dance floor to...well, I'm sure the other folks there thought I was having a stroke or something, but hey, I was dancing, dammit! I was determined to find out who did the song, but I never got to the dj to find out. I either passed out or got thrown out for grabbing the waitress's boobs or something...I was much more spontaneous in those days. Anyway, I never found out whose song that was until that time a couple of months ago. Wasn't into KMFDM back then; recently I've been mining iTunes for their back catalogue.

Nihil was an amazing album.

Cut these eyes and I will see

Agalloch was good, not great. Probably the best of the times I've seen them. If they end up waiting another several years to tour out here again, I'll see them. But if they're here in the next year or two probably not unless I really like the openers.

And Stevie Floyd still rules.
