At face value it looks like a step back for the Leafs but factors like Lupul's health and contract make me doubt whether or not he should be a long-term a solution for us. I know, I know, Lupes had great chemistry with Kessel but I believe JvR's potential will be realized in Toronto -- he's the obvious replacement and long-term solution. I see this as a typical buy low, sell high type of scenario. What's the worst that could happen? The Leafs struggle and acquire another high pick? There's a decent chance of that happening anyway

Lupul for Bernier seems too much for Lombardi to ask. Buy low and sell high is smart, and the leafs have plenty of forwards but I still think that LA needs to add or there need to be other parts in the package.

Just a hypothetical question. Would you guys trade our next 4 1sts for Weber? I would.

For arguably the best defenseman in the league who is only 26?

Yeah I would.

Think I would do it as well.

Hopefully this gets the wheels in motion around the league, lets make a deal!

Could be 2 firsts a 2nd and a 3rd depending on the offer. In any case I probably would.

Good job ur not running the Leafs.

Look at our team compared to the flyers, they have been top 10 the last few years, while we haven't made the playoffs in too long. With Weber it would put us in the playoffs and most likely be out the first round , so no.

Wow, if Weber goes to Philadelphia, that would be intense.

Haha, you guys are such hypocrites. You think that one player would instantly get this team in the playoffs? Shea Weber, really? No flipping way. People freaked at getting an elite scorer in Kessel but you want to give up 4 firsts? Give me a break. Stamkos, Malkin, Crosby? Probably the few players that deserve that kind of return.

When are people going to realize lupul doesn't have health issues, he HAD an issue, and its over. He's in the best and most competitive shape of his life, and he's playing they way he was expected to play when he was drafted. He is what he was always expected to be, a really good hockey player, he just hit one really big bump and he git over it

Weber is arguably the best defenceman in the league... And is only 26. Thats a super valuable commodity, especially because he does everything. He's a young Chris Pronger.

Kessel isnt the least bit comparable to him. Weber is much closer to Stamkos/Malkin in value than Kessel is to Weber in value. And in fact given the choice, I would very likely choose Weber over Stamkos if offered the two of them.

That's why kessel was only 2 firsts. I don't think weber is worth 4, but philly might be the exception. Toronto shouldn't. I would have offer sheeted stamkos tho..
