What if RC were to make the suggestion to BB that "although JVR has the potential to play center, his skills are not sufficient enough to be a 1C in the National Hockey League. I highly recommend we play him in the 2C position. On the second line is where he doesn't have to be outstanding at faceoffs, defensive coverage, or at playing against the league's best defenders."
Would you take issue with JVR playing at the 2C position, and trading Grabo (plus his contract) in order to land our 1C?
Mac JVR Frattin
Deschamps Connolly Kadri/Kuli
Brown McClement Rosehill/Orr
I strongly believe that Connolly should be the number 1 centre, although he didn't have a great year last year I believe he has the tools to be a respectable #1 for the last year of his contract with us.
If not Connolly I suspect we will be seeing Bozak return to his role as #1 fill-in for the year, at least until a move can be made to solidify a 1C.
IMO, JVR will be taking Kulemin's roster spot and we will see Kule reduced to a third line pairing player.
Why would Reem not need to have good faceoff skills or defensive coverage as a second line center?
What is the point of this if you can't land a #1 C by trading Grabo? Given how few true #1 centers are out there, I don't see another team trading us one if Grabo is the best player going the other way.
Why is Connolly your #3 C instead of Bozak or McClement (better defensively and on faceoffs)? Connolly is in the press box until we have some injuries.
This seems like a poorly veiled attempt to (once again) attack Burke because I guess you don't like Garbo's contract?
Take a look at what comparable players are signing for this summer (Parentau, Carle) and remember that we have no one who can immediately replace Grabo within our organization.
