Ryan Clowe and Douglas Murray to MTL

I'm just curious to know what the Sharks would ask for those 2 players.

Nothing any of the Habs fans, or the Habs GM would be giving up for 2 guys who are UFA's in 1 season...

The only player I can even imagine the Habs being willing to move (that we would have interest in) is Eller. You've got some good players, but beyond the 'untouchables' none of them fill needs for the Sharks. We don't need anymore d-men, and we won't take bad contracts.

Smart teams don't trade young guys with high potential when they have just signed a 2 year deal making just 1.325 per season.

The Habs wouldn't be willing to move Eller unless it was in a package deal for a great player, and neither Clowe nor Murray are "great"

The HF bias.

"We see your top 6 winger and solid Dman and wouldn't contemplate trading you anything of value in return."

San Jose won't deal these two anyway unless it's in a package for an upgrade and there's not a lot on the Habs that would achieve that aim and would likely be available for trade.

Not interested in Clowe and Murray to be honest.

Not at the cost SJ will be asking and especially not for 2 players 1 season away from UFA.

I'd like Murray because he would fill a need on Def.
And I think Clowe would fall nicely on our second line to give it some size and grit and open up the ice for 5'6" Gionta and 5'9 Pleks.

But having both for 1 year only is too big a risk.
Murray may resign however I have a feeling Clowe would not.

If price was reasonable for Murray alone I'd pull the trigger.

Say Webber (PP guy) , Palushaj or Kristo or Whyte and a 2nd in 2013... good enough? No?

Just my 2 cents

I think for a fast winger with a scoring touch - maybe for Pacioretty and either of diaz or weber

Nope. Habs need a big phsyical d man. Top six forward to play with plek and a big phsyical d-man is the main concern going into this season. We dont want marleau and the fact that ppl want a paciorertty or galchenyuk for a player that is in his 30s is stupid.

That's probably two parts of a package for Rick Nash.

Don't worry about the cap, it's not your problem. Gomez would be sent down and we'd be fine. Not a big deal.

I really don't want to lose Eller, but the value here is solid. But the value quickly leaves if, at least one of Murray or Clowe doesn't resign.

What if the Sharks throw in a conditional pick, if Clowe and/or Murray don't resign, Montreal gets the pick?

Palushaj sucks. No value. Weber isn't something that carries any value to San Jose.

Probably would cost Eller + 2 of our 3 2nd round picks for this draft.

Eller
2 of Flames', Nashvilles', or Habs 2nd round pick.

For
Murray
Clowe
2014 2nd round pick if Clowe leaves via free agency.

Eller would have to be involved. He's a fit. Maybe something like Eller and Bourque for Clowe and Murray might work for both sides.

This. The Habs are a building team, San Jose intends to be a contending team. How can the Habs trade for short-term players like these? It's just not realistic. Maybe Murray alone if the Sharks are feeling he's a little surplus and were actively trying to move him out, but not more significant veteran players.

I'd do that. Habs wouldn't need Bourque to be that good player to play with Eller.

On a side note, what would it take to get Doherty involved ?

6'6 Tinordi - 6'7 Doherty... Pretty much what I'm looking at for the "woooow big d pairing."

In the unlikely event the sharks are out of it and the Habs are in it at the deadline I could see some of the types of deals being discussed here be possibilities, but right now it seems contrary to the stages the two teams are at. Why would the Habs be dealing young guys and picks for vets near ufagency and why would the sharks be doing the opposite?

A decent forward spec. I'm not high on Doherty.

No, the Habs aren't getting rid of Eller and his very solid upside and 2 years at a VERY cheap rate (and still RFA afterwards) for 2 guys who are UFA's after next season.

Bourque had an awful season last year...why would the Habs give up on him after that? His value is horrendous right now.

The sharks biggest team need is foward depth and speed in our forwards. If we are trading Clowe and Murray we would probably want a second liner with some speed and a third liner or tweener, who could either be effective on pk or step into a top 6 winger role in case of injury. I know a lot of fans don' put much value in our players so I don't think people on this board would give up value to us that would make a worthwhile trade.

I don't think want Doherty. Don't judge just on size - Demers plays bigger and better than any of the Sharks current defensive prospects.
