Development Camp

I know I'm an outsider around here (Although I was a serious Rockies fan back in the day - and still miss the uniforms) but I was wondering if and when there's going to be a development camp this offseason. Is there going to be one or are the Avalanche going to wait and have a rookie camp in September some time?

Just wondering...

Was held already, only the 2012 draftees invited. No on-ice sessions, just paperwork/meeting people.

Will never understand why they refuse to have a prospect camp.

Didn't it have something to do with money last year? Or was that rookie camp?

They haven't done one in a few years now.

This from the Denver post is about all we get. There is another video on Dater's blog to the right as well with him talking to Heard.

http://www.denverpost.com/avalanche/...ver-first-time

Dater throws out that he is 6 foot and 192lbs but says he is pushing for 200lbs I think.

He has been listed at 6'0 190 for god knows how long. In the first video put up by Dater right after he was drafted. Heard says clearly that he is 6'2 now. The video was taken back around the time he attended camp with Toronto prior to the start of last season.

Recent Video from Development camp outside of the Pepsi center.

Old video posted right after he was drafted (Where he says hes 6'2") http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2012...alanche/10872/

Yeah they have. It's just different now, with no on-ice stuff.

This is too bad though. I mean, a thread with 5 posts in it about our development camp? Really?

This is a huge deal for some teams and they get huge publicity out of it. It would be nice to have more coverage about it and maybe have some on-ice stuff to go with it all.

Yeah.. Teams even pit their prospects against each other. SO not fair..

Shame that the organization regressed to simple orientation. I agree, it would be good if they promoted it correctly and had drills or scrimmages so that we could actually have something to talk about.

What would Ray Miron and the Rockies have done?

Seriously - it is a great time to do some marketing, get some publicity, and get fans excited about the future. It sounds like a good investment so I guess that's why I'm a little mystified at the Avs approach.

Colorado Avalanche "organisation"

Insufficient players medical care
No real scouting in Europe
No development camps
Nhl salary cap bottom
Pepsi center ancient scoreboard
No goalie coach
No participation in the annual NHL prospects tournaments in september

What More Can I Say?
