.... oh god I'm hoping that wasn't me. But IIRC I wasn't yet a global and that may have been when I no longer had any mod abilities on this board.

We're not actually mad because somebody made a typo btw. It's a mistake that could happen to anybody! No need to defend yourselves.

Just frustrating that we're like 20 picks later, and all the other guys we considered at that point are gone now.

To be fair, one of those other guys we were considering was Jimmy Ward, who is gone because we took him. (The others were Dubbie Kerr and Bob Dailey).

Bill Thoms / Bill Thomas

So a typo was made. No big deal. Let the pick stand and move forward. The player in question is far from a difference maker. Not like Gordie Howe being drafted instead of Vic Howe.

I appreciate the suggestion, but there were a couple of GMs who said they didn't know Thoms was still available when we drafted him and it woudln't be fair to them for his to just keep him.

And IMO, he had a case as the best center in this draft (albeit by a very slim margin), so he would be something of a difference maker.

Bill Thoms.Seriously ............. had a good year with the Leafs the transition season between Primeau and Syl Apps Sr. Played 542 regular season games avg .62 PPG, Playoffs played 44 games with a decrease of app .25 PPG. This represents a case for the best center in this draft??????????

There are easily 20 centers with a much better pedigree from the first 50 years of the NHL.

I'm sure there are far more than 20 centers with a much better pedigree from the first 50 years of the NHL and they were all drafted in the main ATD

3 top 10 finishes in points is about as good as it gets at the MLD level. He can both score and pass, so it's easy to build around. So his offensive resume compares well with everyone here. And on top of that, his defensive game is very well established

Anyway, our replacement pick will come shortly

Our replacement for Bill Thoms will be

Mike Green, D

Norris record: 2, 2, 7
AS record: 1, 2, 7
Hart record: 13, 14
Led all defensemen in scoring in consecutive seasons

Green is the only defenseman to score more than 30 goals since 1992-93

Paddy Moran won two Cups backstopping an run and gun team, so he'll be right at home playing behind Green...

nice pick with green , was considering him for my next two picks but I still have issues with his weaknesses and overall character.

Yep, it was him or Jarrett for us. We decided to go with the defensive guy, plus we weren't sure how we felt about Green on a top pairing. He's definitely a top 4, big PP minute eater though.

Yeah, obviously Green limits our options somewhat going forward. But the upside was too much to ignore, especially with puck moving defensemen seemingly at a premium this MLD.

Puck-moving defensemen are always at a premium.

Sorry guys. I just noticed that Sven "Tumba" Johansson was picked in the ATD under the name Stan "Dumbo" Jackson. That pick will also need to be changed.

Nice pick, has to be the best PP guy here. Decent consolation prize after you guys were robbed.

Yep, according to the post history you were the one who made the change to the OP that day Dave lol. All in favor of tying him to a stake and burning him over a fire Joan of Arc style?!!?!

(no one? Wait, no one wants to? Okay then I guess it's not a big deal.)

Don't worry about it Dave **** happens. I'm sure I've made a mistake somewhere along those lines before too.
